Job Description

We are looking for a Senior NHS Consultation Manager who will be the first dedicated person to establish and lead Our Future Health’s consultation and co-design of our future projects with the health systems in each of the four nations.

The successful candidate will work across teams to gather requirements establish scope and proposals for workshops and formal consultations, run the projects to deliver these, and feed the insights back into the development of the programme. Specifically, insights from this role’s work will be essential to informing our health system impact analysis, our strategic focus in terms of clinical impact, and the adaptation of the programme to the needs of the different health systems in each nation.

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

What you’ll be doing

This role will be critical to ensuring robust consultation with central and regional health system stakeholders to ensure their input into our plans to return health related information to participants from the data that we hold, your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Co-designing and developing a cohesive consultation workplan for the health systems in each of the four nations, starting with England to inform the design of Our Future Health’s Feedback and Recontact programme.
  • Working closely with the Exec Director of Digital Health and the Deputy Chief Medical Officers to ensure comprehensive engagement and consultation on all important aspects of Feedback and Recontact with central and regional health system stakeholders such as GPs, pharmacists, and professional bodies.
  • Identifying mechanisms through which the workplan can develop iteratively, as our engagement with NHS and healthcare professionals grows.
  • Working cross-functionally with Communications, Product, Design, Clinical and Science to capture our consultation needs.
  • Working closely with Regional Engagement managers to maintain our network of health system relationships, aligning and coordinating the work with this team.
  • Draft a request for proposals and receive submissions from appropriate agencies to deliver workshops and formal consultations.
  • Project management of external agency, Our Future Health stakeholder inputs and read out to the organisation.
  • Presenting bi-weekly reports on health system engagement for Feedback and Recontact; and triaging where risks are emerging.
  • Ensure that it is effectively communicated and socialised across all Our Future Health’s teams that are working on the FER programme.
  • Work with the NHS Clinical Fellow to set engagement priorities and consult with the Exec Director of Digital Health and CMO.
  • Project managing the documentation and publication of our work externally with the Science team and Communications.

Requirements

You will be committed to ensuring the inclusion of diverse professional voices in engagement activities and an understanding of why equity, diversity and inclusion are of critical importance to ensuring Our Future Health’s success as a programme. To succeed, you will have some of the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in health system engagement and consultations or in a similar role, with experience commissioning and managing contractors to deliver consultation activities in a healthcare context.
  • Familiar with medical language, health system processes, tensions, and constraints, ideally with experience of working within central or regional NHS organisations.
  • Experience managing a Board or equivalent for regular and impactful engagement.
  • Knowledge of clinical or operational challenges associated with delivering new care pathways or services in the UK health system.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex information to a wide range of audiences, from medical to lay audiences both verbally and in writing, using a range of tools and approaches.
  • Experience of a variety of strategies and tools to create, deliver and evaluate engagement with health system stakeholders.
  • Experience building networks and partnerships for engagement and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of processes to conduct, track and respond to formal health system consultations.
  • Driven to use consultation/engagement insights to influence operational and policy decisions.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to manage time well and prioritise
