The Role:

As a key member of the data leadership team, you will help ensure the highest possible standards of centralised data reporting, and partner with different departments from across the business to provide embedded data science support.

You will improve and enrich our embedded data science support capability, working closely with the head of business analytics who runs our centralised reporting systems.

Through your encouragement and support, you will help your team to reach their highest possible potential, building a high-performance culture and enable our data scientists to deliver from a technical perspective,.

Reporting directly into the Chief Data Officer, and working closely with all leaders in the data team, as well as product managers throughout the business, you’ll need to innovate, chat with key stakeholders, and be familiar on best practices in order to lead the business towards appropriate solutions.

You will find the team regularly using SQL, Python, BigQuery, Elasticsearch and Google Analytics as well as GSheets and Jira for project management. We also use Tableau for in-depth visualisations.

Responsibilities:

- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of data scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. - Implement and maintain best practices for data science methodologies, coding standards, and documentation.

- Establish and enforce rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and relevance of data-driven insights produced by the team.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable data analytics projects.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team, identifying opportunities for automation, optimisation, and efficiency gains.

- Conduct regular reviews of team deliverables to ensure alignment with project goals and organisational standards. - Collaborate with HR and other stakeholders to define hiring needs and strategies for the data science team.

- Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with data.

- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics.

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Previous experience of leading or managing a data analytics team
  • Data Analytics Experience: Able to Implement and maintain best practices for data science methodologies, coding standards, and documentation.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable data analytics projects.
  • Growth Mindset: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team, identifying opportunities for automation, optimisation, and efficiency gains.
  • Evidence of Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics.
  • Best Practice: - Implement and maintain best practices for data science methodologies, coding standards, and documentation.
