Job Description

Purpose Of Role:

The Design Manager is a critical role in Connected Kerb’s exciting and unprecedented expansion of EV charging infrastructure. Throughout the journey, the Design Manager is crucial for overseeing and advancing the design phase of projects, encompassing survey and design. It will focus on advancing the detailed design, production, and coordination of comprehensive design packages for our external survey, design and build partners. This is an exciting and demanding role that will offer unique challenges and ability to grow and will offer unique opportunities for advancement in the fast-growing EV sector.

The list is not comprehensive, and the individual in this role is anticipated to engage in various activities to contribute to the overall success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Health, Safety amp; Environment aspects across allocated projects including assurance of CDM and related activities.
  • Accountable for Design Strategy, engineering specifications and standards, including selection and management of all third-party design support.
  • Overseeing the design process and workflow; using both internal and external design teams to meet project design requirements, within budget, and in accordance with the required quality standards.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day design operations for EV project delivery.
  • Take charge of the strategy and execution of changes within the Design function, ensuring that processes, resources, and outcomes align to effectively support the anticipated business growth from 2023 onwards.
  • Consistently meeting service level agreements for design completion with both internal and external design resources.
  • Enforcing rigorous, industry-leading quality standards in output and drawings at every stage of the design process.
  • Responsible for supporting Senior Delivery Managers in producing WPO Surveys and Designs are delivered to Connected Kerb engineering specification/design standards and estimates are processed through governance processes.
  • Promoting ongoing enhancement of all business processes associated with design, whether directly or indirectly connected.
  • Onboarding, and ongoing management, of third-party design partners.
  • Reducing the risk of health and safety incidents through thorough, safety-oriented design output.
  • Mitigating commercial and operational risks by conducting thorough design reviews and implementing effective governance measures.
  • Defining and executing the future strategy of the design function to ensure its alignment with the projected business growth.
  • Ensure Connected Kerb's Quality 3 Lines of Defence are adopted for quality across the delivery programme.
  • Evaluate the feasibility and address risk mitigation for EV projects, while delivering the most cost-effective and functionally optimised proposal.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
