What will this role achieve?
The role will direct and foster a team focused on generating compelling design insights and innovation based on consumer research, ultimately creating business design strategies across a number of Samsung’s key business divisions from mobile to domestic appliances. In this role, you will lead and develop the function in a strategic role aligning current and future market needs, creating elegant and balanced solutions and driving new innovation opportunities. The role focuses relentlessly on creating bottom-line impact and innovative ways of measurement. You will create strategic partnerships with Samsung HQ Design, R&D and Marketing to deliver innovative end to end solutions and principles which result in fantastic consumer experiences.
This role will lead the Insight & Innovation Team with a responsibility of people management at corporate level.
The responsibility of the Head of I&I Team within SDE is:
•To Incubate, manage, and deliver Innovation projects from inception to completion on time & within budget to the satisfaction of internal partners•To drive the team in the proposing, winning & managing of innovation projects•To bring their experiences to bear on the team member’s capabilities (i.e. business analytics, strategy, tech. / engineering & design) on their own projects•Effectively present and communicate project outputs to Executives and management of the company•To develop techniques to test Innovative product concepts from the Innovation process in as ‘real world’ a way as possible in order to create a compelling business cases•Candidates do not need to be from the electronics industry but should have experience in research, consumer insights and have a good understanding in experience-based design; especially for UX propositions & in finding solutions with a strategic & UX based mind-set.•
What will be your key deliverables?
•Must be able to look beyond conceptual ideas with a business mind and have the ability to select and develop concepts into production.•Create & develop new projects with partners across the business•Manage the team in delivering new innovative consumer experience concepts (digital & physical) into Samsung business units. Concepts must be built on strong consumer insight, have clear trend indicators & be rooted in commercial & engineering reality•Manage Innovation projects & ensure they are delivered on time & within budget. You will have responsibility for commissioning & contracting any partner agencies•Develop production-ready innovations based on proposed concepts, working with various product planning and engineering teams•Establish and liaise with core figures from Korean & European HQ to uncover project opportunities & unmet business needs•Lead communication with partner agencies & manage agency alignment & performance.•Develop the career growth and manage performance of team members
