Senior Operations Manager Print On Demand amp; Kitting Operations

Location: Altrincham, WA15 0PS.

Our Consumer Division is home to THG’s heritage sites and true home of the geek. Consumer includes Brands such as Zavvi, IWOOT, and Popinabox - some of Europe's largest online retailers for Licensed Merchandise, Collectables, and Gifting products.

A focus on in-house produced and exclusive products through our print on demand facility, has accelerated evolution of the sites away from traditional entertainment retailers towards growing Merchandise and Collectable markets an area we plan to continue our investment in. We are looking for a creative, innovative, and resourceful Production Manager to lead our Print Production team.

Due to rapid growth, THG is looking to recruit a Senior Operations Manager, with experience in Print Production and large scale distribution, to effectively manage our Print Production and Kitting (Co-packing) operations at our Fulfilment Centre in Altrincham.

Reporting directly to the Site Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of around 4 direct reports and overall team size of up to 600, ensuring operational targets are met and customer experience is delivered.

You will be required to;

  • Ensure Production schedule and flow is planned and executed in line with safety, quality and efficiency standards and customer experience is prioritised.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that the production schedule is aligned with forecasts and that seasonal and promotional activities can be delivered in an efficient and cost effective manner
  • Develop and leverage relationships with external stakeholders to align production targets and objectives with businesses requirements
  • Take responsibility for process improvement and team development to continually improve performance
  • Develop a high performing culture and coach senior leaders in the operations department to achieve their potential.
  • Proactively identify and lead continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor costs associated with Print On Demand and Kitting operations and review weekly with view to reducing costs
  • Supervise effective staff performance management to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI`s) are reached
  • Work with other areas of the business to assist with effective problem solving with the goal of improving overall performance
  • You will be responsible for developing and setting standards and long-term goals and strategy for these areas, managing the delivery through developing direct reports and influencing the wider business.
  • For this role you will be required to Mon to Fri most weeks, however, flexibility will be required as you will support teams on Day and Night shift and teams working at weekends and you will be expected to have contact time with these teams.

Requirements

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate that you have

  • To be considered for this role you will need to be a credible leader with line management experience within print production and if you have experience with e-commerce fulfilment and kitting / co-packing this would be an advantage.

You should also have

  • Experience managing a busy production environment with a range of different processes and experience optimising production operations
  • Experience and good track record implementing lean manufacturing techniques / continuous improvement
  • Experience planning production and ability to deal with fluctuating demand and work with range of stakeholders to deliver accurate forecasts to enable you to plan workloads effectively
  • Ability to develop the strategy for your area and manage the delivery by developing direct reports and influencing the wider business.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • Fluent in English and Highly Numerate
  • To succeed within THG operations you should be capable of challenging the status quo, thrive on change and lead from the front.
  • Flexible attitude
  • Degree in logistics/mathematics/supply chain /manufacturing operations / similar is preferred
