5 billion people, two-thirds of the world’s population, do not have access to safe and affordable surgical care. As a result, millions go untreated every year causing unnecessary suffering, permanent debilitation, or death. This is all caused by a shortage of surgeons, varying quality of care, rising costs of training surgeons, lack of funding and lack of accessibility to quality surgery. Digital Surgery is on a mission to change all of this.
Digital Surgery is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons England to award CPD points for cognitive rehearsal and case reflection using Digital Surgery's Touch Surgery mobile and web platform. This marks the first time that the RCS has offered centre accreditation to a mobile-based simulation platform in its 500+ year history.
With our award winning Touch Surgery application and newly built GoSurgery product, it is the dawn of digital surgery. Digital Surgery has created a digital data-driven ecosystem that uses the latest and cutting-edge technologies like AI, augmented reality and computer vision to modernize surgical training, orchestrate surgical teams in the OR and deliver safer surgery around the world
About The Role:
As a Senior Computer Vision Engineer within the Innovation team in Digital Surgery, you will help to design, implement, and test a Machine Learning framework to support other engineers and researchers of the team. You will become part of a talented team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. You will collaborate as a computer vision and machine learning expert with our other machine learning engineers, platform engineers and research experts of the team.
Our computer vision/machine learning team is responsible for developing solutions that allow us to scale our automatic surgical understanding from raw video data. This includes (but is not limited to) performing tasks such as object detection, localization and tracking, segmentation and scene understanding. For these tasks, we rely on surgical video data recorded across different specialties.
We want people who: work well in teams, can brainstorm novel ideas, work in state-of-the-art technology areas, able to drive a concept into a prototype, and can envision how a prototype could transition into a high-volume consumer product.
