About the role

We are seeking a macro economist to join our team and work in the intersection of scientific discoveries and macro economic outcomes. Science and Ramp;D is a key determinant of economic growth and but these relationships are still poorly understood. You will take a lead role in this cutting edge area and work on gathering new data sources and predictive indicators and combine these with our science analytics to deliver insights that can inform critical decision-making by governments, macro funds and science based companies.

You will:

  • Work with science analyst team to develop macro predictors and indicators
  • Cover areas such as pandemics, pandemic preparedness, life science Ramp;D spend, energy and climate
  • Identify structured data sources that can provide further value
  • Produce and oversee deliveries of data sets and intelligence
  • Use a number of data visualisation tools to render your analyses
  • Deliver powerful insights in well-crafted reports
  • Become intrinsically familiar with our proprietary life science database
  • Work very closely with other analysts and teams in the business

Requirements

  • A PhD in economics or a related subject from a top tier university
  • Keen interest in science and macro economic dynamics
  • Experience working in an investment bank, economics consultancy or think tank is a plus but not a requirement
  • Strong quantitative skills
  • Experience with data visualisation applications, building dashboards and reports
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint and other presentation tools
  • Desire to efficiently produce high-quality deliverables
  • Comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organisational habits and an ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
