As part of our rapid growth and expansion we are now looking to recruit an experienced Operational Risk Officer to support the Regional Risk amp; AML Manager in the management of operational risk for our current business activities.

Overview:

Due to our ambitious growth plans, it is of crucial importance that operational risk is closely managed and minimised throughout our organisation, and we are currently seeking an experienced Operational Risk Officer to help us achieve this aim. Reporting directly to the Regional Risk amp; AML Manager UK MLRO, this will be a crucial role that will help safeguard the business against any potential regulatory or legal non-compliance and drive our exciting and dynamic business forward. Initially supporting the UK and Irish side of our operations, the remit of this role has the potential to expand to other European/regional countries (dependent upon the candidates profile and capabilities). Suitable for a candidate with existing experience in operational risk, or other transferable skills obtained in banking/finance/payments/compliance with an interest in anti-financial crime:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting UK Operational Risk Management;
  • Anti-financial crime including fraud control both on a portfolio basis (overview via specialised MIS reports);
  • Dealing with specific anti-fraud and money laundering issues on a case-by-case basis and being a point of escalation;
  • Supporting the MLRO UK develop operational risk management framework;
  • Working to support internal self-assessment and set up of applicable risk assessments (and associated activities);
  • Sampling reviews on the implementation of fundamental risk procedures;
  • Reporting and acting on any issues of non-compliance while driving continuous improvement;
  • Collections management originating from fraudulent transactions;
  • Assessing new segments/industries of interest to the wider sales community;
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and institutional 3d partners (financial institutions, payment card scheme and public authorities);
  • Drafting and/or assisting in the creation of internal or external risk reports;
  • Ad hoc tasks as required by the AML amp; Risk team or the senior management of the company.

Requirements

Experience amp; Qualifications:

  • Experience in Operational Risk Management, preferably within the context of merchant acquiring or card payments, banking or finance;
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks with regards to payment services or generalist anti-financial crime (desirable);
  • Knowledge of Card Associations regulations and mandates (desirable);
  • Experience of systems, databases and tech solutions related to Operational Risk Management;
  • Strong IT literacy, in particular with Microsoft packages;
  • A proven track record of meeting deadlines and adding value;
  • Professional accreditation/qualification in risk management, banking or finance (either finalised or undertaking is desirable);
  • Fluency in English (essential). Additional EEA-30 languages would be considered a plus.
