Who are we?

We are innovators, we do what we do because we believe in a connected world. Our mission is to provide innovation that extends the global reach of connectivity for our customers.

We are a pre-revenue start-up, creating an innovative and disruptive low-profile multi-beam satellite communications terminals for mobile and fixed applications. Our mission is to enable access beyond traditional markets by providing an effective and affordable solution to the 53% of the global population who still remain unconnected. Our world class team is focussed on pioneering the industrialization of optical devices from the scientific field of 'transformational optics' which unlocks numerous benefits within the industry.

We are GROWING!

Isotropic Systems is growing fast with a fantastic 54% headcount increase since the start of the global pandemic, but it doesn't end there, we're continuing to expand our workforce with an exciting and ambitious hiring plan for 2021. So if you think you've got what it takes to be an Isotropian, hit the apply button!

As an experienced RF System Engineer you will lead the modelling and development of Wide-band phased array System architecture. Your role will sit within the Electronic System Modelling which makes up a part of Active Circuits Engineering. You will be critical to the modelling, definition amp; realization of the final products where the active component create the advanced feature of the system. We need you to have In-depth understanding of the Digital communication systems.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the team you will

  • Work with the team to partition communication system functions between HW/SW and analog/digital domains.
  • Simulate amp; in-depth model the communication systems from the perspective of the custom RFIC and ASIC design
  • Determine the RF impairments amp; impact on the system performance parameters in the full communications system
  • Extend the RFIC, ASIC modelling to Phased array system level and asses the impact of impairments
  • Derive RF HW specifications for the RF system, RF blocks and internal/external developed ICs
  • Lead the designing of compensation and calibration loops crossing RF/Analog/Digital, RFIC/ASIC, Modem/DSP amp; associated protocol boundaries
  • Participate in all phases of internal/ external RFIC and ASIC design, from concept to mass production
  • Contribute towards high-level RFIC and ASIC design requirements/ specifications block-level micro-architectures, partition design within RFIC/ ASIC (to some extent on FPGA as a SDR

Requirements

This role is key to the development of the end products, this means we are looking for you to have

  • Previous experience specifying amp; performing analysis with simulation of systems containing both linear and non-linear blocks such as phase-locked loops, vector modulators/demodulators, oscillators, mixers, filters amp; multipliers
  • Demonstrable experience in signal processing and DSP/modem design with model amp; trade off solutions between analog and digital domain.
  • Work experience in digital communication systems, OFDM, spread spectrum and single carrier techniques with modulation types such as QAM, QPSK amp; APSK.
  • Radio related test equipment experience such as spectrum analysers, vector signal analysers, vector signal generator amp; network analysers

RF System

  • Strong industry and/or research experience in RF/microwave circuit design, system design and/or digital communications/modem design.
  • Experience in building and modelling RF systems in Matlab/Python, SystemVue or ADS Ptolomy.
  • Commercially specified amp; developed full communications systems in cellular, cable modem or similar systems.
  • RF/microwave design experience using Agilent ADS, Genesys, HFSS, or AWR Microwave Office
  • Understanding of electromagnetic propagation and antenna systems
  • Understanding of digital communication theory, with emphasis on bit error rate and system noise figure
  • RF/microwave design in the Ku-band and Ka-band frequency range.

Digital Communication System

  • Knowledge of different digital modulation techniques (e.g. PSK, QAM, OFDMA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of wireless communications systems and standards (e.g. LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.).

Phased Array/ Beamforming System - High Desirable

  • Direct satcom experience would be - highly desirable.
