Commodity Buyer

We are seeking an experienced Commodity Buyer to join our growing Supply Chain team. The core of this role will be providing support on global sourcing optimisation by procuring cost effective and high-quality materials to support Ramp;D during NPI and production builds across an array of complex mechanical and electronic components. Agility and flexibility are key attributes for this role in delivering our innovative technology to global customers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Maintain bills of materials for projects liaising with both Engineering amp; Program teams
  • Create and maintain an ‘Approved Supplier List’ database across commodities
  • Actively introduce new product roadmaps from suppliers
  • Support internal design teams in the selection of competitive and innovative solutions and maintain interface with cross functional teams to assess current and future sourcing requirements.
  • Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in cost, quality, service and technology.
  • Negotiate and support annual cost reductions, lead time reductions, favourable payment terms
  • Develop and maintain personal knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures and technical improvement.
  • Develop a commodity technology roadmap aligning business requirements with key supplier capabilities.
  • Identify, develop amp; execute cost-savings opportunities across a wide supply base
  • Raise purchase requests and orders in line with business demand, forecasts amp; schedules
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships ensuring on-time delivery of goods/services
  • Ensure goods are receipted and work closely with Finance amp; Quality on any issues
  • Develop supplier scorecards enabling accurate assessment of supplier metrics
  • Execute cost amp; profit analysis and report to management.


Experience Required:

  • Strong experience working within a purchasing team in a manufacturing business
  • Familiar with Electro-mechanical and Electronic components such as PCB’s, PCBA’s and semiconductors
  • Confident in managing supplier relationships, negotiations and resolving supply issues
  • Good organisational skills to manage multiple workstreams and customers
  • Solid experience of ERP/MRP solutions along with planning/scheduling
  • Analytical and able to manage, maintain and interrogate data using excel
  • Good level of computer literacy, verbal amp; written communication skills
  • An excellent problem solver able to work collaboratively to solve issues
  • Familiarity with shipping/logistics and able to expedite as required
  • Willing to travel at short notice and when needed
