Job Description

Programmes Co-ordinator (Whole Vehicle Verification)

Location: Scarborough or Skelmersdale

Competitive package + half day on Fridays

More than half of the buses that you see on the roads in the UK are made by Alexander Dennis. Globally, there’s over 25,000 people every minute, of every day using our products. That’s a lot of responsibility we have for keeping the world moving.

At Alexander Dennis we design, engineer, build and support the widest range of market leading buses and coaches using low, ultra-low and zero emission technologies. We have extensive experience in vehicle supply and support across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, with a near 50:50 revenue split between UK and international markets.

We are excited about the opportunities arising from the global push for lower pollution and better air quality. The UK Government as well as many others around the world have committed to aggressive but achievable decarbonisation agendas and at Alexander Dennis, we are ready to deliver the green buses needed to transition to cleaner transport.

Engineering at Alexander Dennis takes many forms; however, in simple terms, we design buses and coaches by seamlessly integrating third party components (engines, transmissions etc.) into the Alexander Dennis designed Chassis and Body, all to meet our customers exacting requirements.

We are looking for a diligent and highly organised Programmes Co-ordinator to join the team in Skelmersdale or Scarborough. In position, you will support managers across the Whole Vehicle Verification (WVV) team with allocating internal and external resources aligned to project milestones. A key part of this will be reporting on resource and financial budgets, and providing analytical support with department deliverables in Cost, Quality and Delivery. As part of this you will own and report on departmental KPI’s.

Why join:

  • You’ll have an interesting and technically challenging workload from day one, where you will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from an experienced and established team.
  • It’s a dynamic, fast paced environment where no two days are the same with significant daily challenges for you to overcome. You’ll certainly not be bored.
  • You’ll take great pleasure in being able to see the vehicles that you and the team have worked on become finished vehicles on the streets in your local community.
  • We’re at the forefront of automotive technology, with extensive experience of producing low, ultra-low and zero emission vehicles, meaning that you will be helping to contribute towards the de-carbonisation of the environment.
  • Career development is not necessarily linear, so whether you want to progress in Engineering, or perhaps your interests are in Project Management or Commercial. Either way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities available to you. As part of the USD $2.9bn NFI Group, you could consider new roles or secondments in the UK or any one of our global locations around the world, including Toronto, Hong Kong or Auckland.
  • On top of a competitive base salary, pension and life assurance cover, you will also receive a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with tenure. We also operate a half day on Fridays, giving you that much needed work-life-balance.

About you:

  • To be successful, you will have demonstrable experience in a similar role, as defined in this advert where you have made a significant impact on departmental effectiveness.
  • Ideally your work experience will be gained in the automotive industry and in particular; bus, coach, HGV, specialist vehicles or tier-1 suppliers. We would however, also welcome those from similarly complex and technical industries.
  • It is essential that you have strong project management experience and discipline, including the review and development of new processes and procedures. You should be capable of managing multiple, simultaneous, and continuously changing projects of varying complexity.
  • Along with strong problem-solving skills, you will have a proven track record of delivering continuous improvement activities.
  • Finally, you should be comfortable and enjoy doing all of this in a deadline driven, pressurised environment, with the ability to travel between UK sites as required.

What you will be doing in your new role:

  • Track and report monthly on Whole Vehicle Verification (WVV) budgetary spend on both Current Model Engineering and New Product Development projects.
  • Track and report weekly on WVV resource commit versus demand and capacity.
  • Develop and then own and report on WVV business level KPI’s.
  • Manage t
