Job Description

About the role

The Data Insights Director will join Jellyfish’s Data and Planning team, a broad and diverse team encompassing brand, data and media planners, analysts, data scientists, and email specialists. You’ll also join the wider global data and insights function within Jellyfish, which spans hundreds of skilled individuals, all with the common goal of using data expertise to inspire best in class marketing fuelled by data rich insights. The Director role will oversee our App / Mobile related products and projects, and lead a growing team of Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Data Planners to provide the best possible service to our wide client base.


The Data amp; Analytics Director role has three specific objectives - help us achieve our vision through defined initiatives, be accountable for teams’ performance, and aid with key strategic accounts. Skills include, but not limited to: leadership, consulting, marketing, App/Mobile, data science, and machine learning.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key strategic role in the App/Mobile department to define and drive key initiatives that align with the department vision and business’ thematic goal.
  • Provide thought leadership in Data Science specializing in the App/Mobile space to ensure Jellyfish maintains its position as an industry leader.
  • Create and oversee the execution of data-led strategies that help our clients leverage their data for greater insight or performance, in close collaboration with technical teams, account managers, product teams, client teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Design, build, and deliver solutions that have a global impact on Jellyfish, Google, partners and clients, while ensuring insights and outputs are directly actionable.
  • Drive the productization of high-quality prototypes, oversee product execution by operational teams, and ensure the successful delivery of the product.
  • Focus creative thinking for clients and Jellyfish teams by extrapolating insights from data performance to focus on the why and how, as opposed to what happened.
  • Aid and manage key strategic projects; expand clients from single capability to multi-capability.
  • Lead the data team’s App / Mobile capability, maintaining a strong team culture with accountability for utilisation, performance, and skillsets.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Do you have 5+ years of experience building and leading data teams.
  • Do you have 10+ years of experience building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • A broader understanding of the marketing ecosystem and measurement framework, including but not limited to paid display, search, social, video, organic, web, and app.
  • Strong data analytics experience with the ability to define clients’ data strategies, frame the business challenge, and come up with appropriate data solutions.
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team, as well as interfacing with engineers, business stakeholders, and client teams.
  • Experience working with diverse data sources across multiple channels to produce actionable insights.
  • Excellent technical analytical experience - to include some of the following: SQL, Python, R, Javascript, jQuery, and HTML.
  • Hands-on experience in data analysis and data visualization, including familiarity with Looker, Tableau, or Google Data Studio.
  • Attention to detail combined with a careful approach to process and superb problem solving skills.
  • Clear, concise and engaging communications skills, and the ability to distill and translate complex analysis into actionable insights that a client will understand.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with App / Mobile, tracking and analytics, console data for App Store Optimization, and mobile marketing partners such as Apple Search Ads and Google App Campaigns
  • Experience building predictive models (e.g. attribution, audience segmentation, propensity modelling, or customer lifetime value)
  • Skill in of complex and advanced technical problem solving.
  • Experience with cloud technology, such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
  • Knowledge of GA360, web and app experience optimisation / personalisation platforms and/or Paid Social interfaces
  • Knowledge and experience of CRM platforms such as Salesforce and omni-channel marketing
  • Experienced working with Agile development methodologies
