Who you are?

You are an energetic, curious and friendly professional excited about the opportunity to join a business growing rapidly.

Your past experience involves:

  • Understanding stock flows in a manufacturing or distribution environment, the key controls that limit waste and/or financial losses, and the financial impact of this on the business
  • Interrogating data to derive insight and recommendations to other stakeholders
  • Experience with key systems controls around purchase orders, transfer orders and stock adjustments.
  • Using ERP and Warehouse Management systems
  • Use of Microsoft Dynamics 2012/365 (Famp;O) and JDA software is hugely benefical.

Furthermore whilst the expectation is for you to either be a qualified accountant or have aspirations to become one, it is not essential and a proven track record working with finance is sufficient.


Role objectives
  • Provide insight as to processes that are causing inefficiencies within the stock life-cycle, and work with a cross-functional team to implement solutions
  • Ensure the financial risks associated with stock are flagged early through oversight of key controls
  • Help the Supply Chain and operations functions optimise stock holding
  • The initial remit is to be focused on our Spalding fulfilment centre, however the expectation is that you will use your insights to drive actions at the other site
  • We are currently remote working due to COVID-19. Our Environment Team has been busy reviewing how we could fully reopen our offices, when lockdown measures begin to ease. To support our Spalding fulfilment Centre travel will be required once a week once restrictions have eased.


What you’ll do

Working in the Financial Control team but being closely aligned with the supply chain and operations teams. Your role will be focused on:

  • Interrogating daily stock movements to assess outliers and issues (e.g. waste), and providing analysis to business stakeholders about these.
  • Key liaison between accounts payable, Supply Chain and operations for invoice queries. The role should look to streamline the process here.
  • Reporting on the operation of key stock controls within the fulfilment centre - e.g. stock counts, reconciliations between systems and for stock held off-site, surplus stock holdings, transfer orders.
  • Preparing a suite of stock KPIs (and commentary) to disseminate to business stakeholders, covering stock turnover, surplus stock, wastage
  • Developing metrics to provide to stock controllers to enable them to assess financial impact of decisions being made.
  • Maintaining financial stock provisions required (e.g. provisions for 1) slow moving packaging; 2) surplus ingredients)


Requirements

Your skills
  • Understanding of stock flows within a manufacturing or distribution business
  • Strong financial literacy - Qualified Accountant or looking to become qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) is preferred
  • Microsoft Dynamics 2012/365 Famp;O skills (or similar system)
  • Strong Excel and system skills
  • Excellent numerate and computer skills
  • Problem solving rather than problem identification
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
