Employment Lawyer - London, Southampton or Cardiff based

We are looking for an Employment Lawyer to support the business on all contentious and non-contentious employment matters. The role will report directly into the Deputy General Counsel, with a dotted reporting line into Starling’s Chief People Officer. The role can be based in any of our London, Southampton or Cardiff offices.

This role represents a fantastic opportunity for an employment lawyer to join a growing team and make their mark at one of the UK’s most exciting fintechs.

Your work will include

• Advising on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law, including incentives, and pensions;

• Assisting the business to deliver special projects, bank-wide initiatives and policy changes;
• Advising on regulatory issues associated with financial services and banking, including the SMCR and the Remuneration Code and advising the bank’s remuneration committee;
• Managing multiple projects and supporting colleagues to ensure business and enterprise-wide initiatives are executed in a timely and accurate manner; and
• Instructing and working with outside counsel where necessary on specialist matters.

Requirements

• Excellent legal training and 3-5 years PQE at a law firm and/or financial institution;
• Very strong technical employment law experience;
• Experience of banking and financial services;
• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and keen to grow and develop within the organisation.

In-house experience would be ideal but is not essential for the right candidate. PQE is a guide only.
