"Since I began my placement at Very Group I have been part of a very welcoming, hardworking and fast moving team, and I am loving every minute of it. Spend you placement year at uni as a Buying Assistant and you’ll experience our buying process from start to finish. You’ll put your learning into action in the fast-paced world of retail and you’ll develop your skills every day with the support of a mentor, our superb training and a development plan that’s as individual as you are.

You’ll join an ambitious team who are creative and experienced. You’ll meet with suppliers and work closely with our buyers to set up new lines and source and develop product ranges. You’ll also help to put on catwalks, press shows and exciting fashion and blogging events to put our products in the spotlight. All the time we’ll keep you on your toes with different challenges and experiences to help you kick start your dream career in buying.

Our Buying team here at Liverpool HQ have some of the best minds in fashion and retail and are leading the way in finding the next trends and products.

You’ll join us at a Buying Assistant and you’ll learn at pace as part of our creative and inspirational buying team that is crucial to Very. You’ll focus on developing and delivering a new range for us and will push the boundaries everyday developing strong partnerships with our suppliers. You’ll be working with friendly, innovative and passionate people. We're very supportive and will give you opportunity, support and a career path to shape you career and become our future.

• Help our buyers source and develop product ranges to meet changing customer tastes
• Keep a close eye on prices, the market and the latest trends
• Work with our design, merchandising and creative teams across the full product lifecycle
• Manage samples and provide support with administration and monitoring to make sure we always deliver our customer promise
• Talk to our suppliers every day, managing different relationships and making sure samples are ready for meetings and events

Studying a buying, merchandising or fashion degree, you should live and breathe fashion and have set your heart on a career in the exciting world of fashion buying and retail. With a real thirst for knowledge, you must be ambitious, professional and assertive with a hands-on approach and a good commercial brain. As the pace is fast here, you’ll also need to be a superb organiser with excellent communication and prioritisation skills. Above all, you won’t be afraid of hard work and be passionate about providing products and brands that make our customers look good.
