Job Description
An established but rapidly growing family-run business is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to join their new management structure in Chippenham. The business, operating in the provision of safety products enjoyed tremendous growth in 2020 and has very ambitious but realistic expansion plans to continue on its impressive trajectory.
If you consider this role to be a start up opportunity you would not be wide off the mark. Currently the family directors have been overseeing this function but without any specific formal training or experience in procurement and realise they need external support to take them to the next level.
The primary objective of this role is to manage the company’s supply of products, including implementing strategies to find cost-effective deals and suppliers. .
Responsibilities
- Devise and use fruitful sourcing strategies
- Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organisation partnerships
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
- Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
- Examine and test existing contracts
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
- Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
- Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
Requirements
- Proven working experience as a procurement manager or head of procurement
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in reading the market
- Talent in negotiations and networking
- Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software
- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
- Experience in collecting and analysing data
- Degree calibre. CIPS qualification is desirable
Hours: Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm
