Exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Senior Lab Manager to join a fast-growing biotech startup. Since spinning out of Oxford University last year, Oxsed has grown to 80+ people and will continue to grow rapidly over the coming years. Oxsed is using pioneering OxLAMP technology to provide rapid, accurate and affordable COVID testing throughout the UK.

We are now looking to recruit for this senior role to provide leadership across all of our remote laboratory sites, currently located in a number of locations in London and Manchester.

• Ability to set up molecular testing lab ISO 15189 and maintain and review the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Ensure that all labs are setup and being managed in line with all regulatory requirements
• Oversight of laboratory technicians, testing processes, review lab results, monitor laboratory key performance indicators, and quality metrics
• Accountable for all overall operation, including operational procedures and protocols, and administration of the laboratory operational procedures and protocols
• Management of Lab Manager responsible for protocol implementation and deployment
• Ensure all laboratory staff are competent and confident in their roles
• Direct line management of Lab Managers and overall responsibility for site lab workforce
• Perform monthly review and verify records to identity corrective, preventive and improvement actions to be taken, as well as manage technical escalations as and when required
• Address any complaint, request or suggestion from staff and/or users of laboratory services
• Design and implement contingency plans to ensure essential services are still available during emergency situations

Requirements

• Be educated to Doctoral degree level in Biological, Medical or Health Science disciplines or another relevant field from an accredited institution, or Master degree with 10+ years of experience
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience in molecular techniques
• Strong people management experience including management experiences of a team of Researchers/Lab Technicians
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing laboratory operations, including Quality Assurance and Control experience in clinical diagnostics
• Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing laboratory operations
• Comprehensive knowledge of Laboratory Health amp; Safety standards
• 2+ years of laboratory training
• 5+ years of Laboratory Management experience
