About Achilles Therapeutics:

Achilles Therapeutics is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of T cell therapies targeting clonal neoantigens for the treatment of cancer. We use DNA sequencing data from each patient, together with our proprietary PELEUS bioinformatics platform, to identify clonal neoantigens specific to that patient and develop personalised T cell therapies. Originating from pioneering research at UCL, CRUK and the Francis Crick Institute, we are using our ground-breaking immuno-oncology approach to rapidly advance therapies and have two programs in the clinic for the treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer and Melanoma.

Role Summary:

Achilles Therapeutics is setting up an in-house peptide manufacturing facility in order to meet its increased demand for peptides to support GMP manufacturing of its novel cancer immunotherapy targeting clonal neoantigens.

The Head of Peptides will be responsible for coordinating and executing process development and manufacturing programs, which include directing the installation and commissioning of process equipment, scheduling of daily activities, supervising the Peptide team, supporting the technical and scientific activities and ensuring the timely reporting to Company leadership.

This position requires:

  • Organize and coordinate peptide manufacturing process and analytical activities
  • Supervise the technology and know-how transfer, establish the production documentation
  • Lead, coordinate, facilitate and motivate all internal and external operations teams to reach alignment on project goals and deliverables
  • Manage projects within established scope, schedule and budget
  • Develop and document high-level strategies for accomplishing specific project objectives
  • Facilitate and lead effective project meetings, manage change and conflict and develop resource planning estimates to manage project workload and productivity
  • Support, inform and align with cross functional project management team members to ensure success of projects, including clinical operations, quality control, quality assurance and regulatory affairs departments
  • Head the facilities management activities related to the warehouses, laboratories organization and quality implementation
  • Set up and manage the Peptide team including QA/QC, Process Upstream/Downstream, Logistics amp; Warehouse, Admin

Requirements

  • PhD or Engineering degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry
  • Strong industry experience in research, tech transfer and production of peptides (scientific and technical) in a commercial environment (CDMOs, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and/or medical device industries)
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively communicate and build relationships with a broad spectrum of audiences at all organizational levels as well as with third party contract manufacturing organizations
  • Sound technical aptitude and proven ability to grasp general knowledge of multiple disciplines and technologies
  • Strong competencies in organization and rigor with the ability to lead multiple activities and resources while maintaining a focus on quality
