Chief of Staff

We are looking for a brilliant Chief of Staff to support our Founder and COO, channelling their direction effectively across the entire business. You will enable the continued explosive growth of the Alpha Vet brand by helping our Founder and COO to prioritise their time on the most strategic and important topics, maximising their effectiveness by ensuring that meetings and materials are prepared to a high standard, following up on actions and helping to make connections across the business. We are looking for someone with exceptional organisational skills, experience in a high-growth, creative business environment, strong problem-solving skills, great communication skills an insatiable ambition and an entrepreneurial mindset. The successful candidate will naturally go above and beyond, with resilience and enthusiasm, always staying 10 steps ahead.

We are a 30-person strong team, and are leaders in delivering expert webinars and conferences to the veterinary profession. Our vision is to become the leading global marketplace for the veterinary profession, and we are raising investment to achieve this goal later this year. The Webinar Vet are leaders in delivering expert webinars and conferences to the veterinary profession and as part of this new role you will be required to undertake a key role supporting the leadership team. Reporting into the COO, you will be expected to manage key projects, support with Human Resources and strategy of the business and to ensure we always over deliver and provide the very best service possible.

Leadership Support

• Defining and implementing a growth strategy for the business with significant autonomy
• Helping leadership think through the new organisational structure, team dynamics and talent acquisition strategy
• Supporting with new business and product launches
• Leading teams when called upon
• Writing presentations to ensure consistent communication throughout the business

Special Projects

• Leading cross-functional initiatives and tangential strategic opportunities
• Covering interim roles and standing in for key functional leadership positions when vacant
• Implementing HR/policy updates
• Conducting corporate/business development (if time permits)

Company Routines and Processes

• Defining the cadence of leadership and broader company meetings
• Ensuring the right objectives, attendees, agenda and follow-ups for each meeting
• Coordinating internal communications
• Coordinating preparation for board meetings
• Running multi-functional offsites

Requirements

We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial individual with 5+ years of professional experience that is looking to take on significant responsibility and further their professional development. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience and success in the following key areas:

• Problem solving and strategic thinking; ideally from experience in another startup or working at a strategy consultancy
• Project management, including leading cross-functional projects
• Written and verbal communication with empathy
• Data analysis for the purposes of financial forecasting and decision making
• Multi-tasking and prioritisation of multiple responsibilities whilst meeting deadlines and maintaining high levels of attention to detail
• Ability to handle complex situations, bringing calm and focus when needed
• Resilient and comfort dealing with ambiguity and change
• Relationship building across all levels, with strong influencing and networking skills
• Utterly discreet and used to handling confidential information and projects

Benefits

The role will be full-time (38 hours per week; remote anywhere in the UK) and compensation will be in the region of ~50k per annum with potential performance-related bonuses and equity in the business, depending on experience.
