Job Description

Jellyfish Pictures are on the lookout for a VFX editor! Do you have an excellent eye for detail and a flair for creativity? then look no further as we are now hiring.

As a Senior VFX Editor, you will be responsible for leading all editorial tasks in the VFX department. VFX editors are vital to creating workflows that allow the VFX supervisors to evaluate the technical direction and aesthetic of various shots.

Jellyfish Pictures is a multi-award-winning Animation and Visual Effects studio with over 250 employees working across five UK studios and remotely all over the globe.

Our VFX credits include blockbuster movies such as Lucas Films’ Star Wars franchise The Last Jedi and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story; TV Dramas including HBO’s Watchmen and Netflix’s Black Mirror: Hated in the Nation. Jellyfish has produced high-quality CG animation for DreamWorks Animation holiday special How to Train Your Dragon: Homecoming, top-rated children’s shows,Dennis and Gnasher: Unleashed(CBBC), Floogals (Universal Kids) and most recently, has embarked on developing and producing its own original animated children’s content.


Role Responsibilities

  • Maintain sequence edits and inserting VFX shots into the timeline
  • Manage and document the turnover of shots from editorial through to delivery including ingesting new media into pipeline
  • Ensure that published shots conform to the current edit and perform basic QC checks
  • Update sequences with new dailies from CG artists and outsource vendors.
  • Communicate with client editorial and track all stages of the client cuts.
  • Request scans from the client editorial and/or scan facility.
  • Provide mini cuts for all reviews.
  • Identify selects of material captured internally.
  • Work collaboratively with the VFX Supervisor, Production, and artists.
  • Shows wrap-up including finals reel, layoff of movie files and consolidating media.
  • Drive production of internal and external marketing reels.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • A strong understanding of the VFX process, terminology, film and digital formats, files, frame rates and resolutions
  • Confident in communicating internally and externally
  • 4 years minimum VFX editorial experience.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while working under tight schedules.
  • Avid / Premiere / RV knowledge.
  • Extensive experience with Shotgun.
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and comprehension of codecs, transcoding and QT formats.

  • Experience and confidence in liaising with Clients.
