OneOcean is the largest global supplier of voyage solutions for the maritime industry and provides digital navigation and regulatory compliance solutions for almost 20,000 vessels worldwide. We are a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation and looking for a new part-time Head of Quality amp; HSE.
The Head of Quality amp; HSE works with the Group Head of HR and the senior leadership team to ensure that the business maintains quality and compliance with ISO9001 amp; ISO14001 standards and the regulatory requirements at our 8 sites, and in the countries and regions in which we operate. This is an autonomous role, requiring knowledge of best practice and the ability to engage across all levels of the organization and drive implementation through the various business units. The role will be undertaken on a part-time basis, across a 15-hour week and we are open to these hours being worked flexibly across 2-5 days per week and/or in line with school term times.
Here’s what your day-to-day will look like in this role:
- Responsibility for the business’s Quality and Environmental Management System (QEMS), to ensure our global business remains compliant with Health and Safety and Environmental Quality (HSEQ) standards and retains its ISO certifications.
- Continued analysis of the requirements of the ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards, which requirements of the standards apply to our organisation and whether they are being met or not.
- Identifying changes that are required to our policies, procedures and internal practices.
- Creating new policies and procedures to set the quality and HSE strategy, ensuring that these are fully communicated and embedded across the organisation.
- Supporting the senior leadership team in deploying and implementing new HSEQ initiatives and priorities.
- Continuously improving our QEMS, policies and practices.
- Collaborating with colleagues at each of our 8 office sites, to ensure that any HSEQ risks or issues are identified and solutions implemented.
- Conducting internal audits and supporting the external auditing process, to achieve ongoing compliance with ISO standards.
- Duties as the company’s formal Data Protection Officer.
- Drive a continuous improvement culture within OneOcean.
- Identifying, assessing and proposing business improvement opportunities.
- Travel within the UK and overseas may be required and is considered an occasional feature of this role. Requests could be made at short notice.
- Any other tasks associated with this role.

What we need from you?
- Great oral and written communication skills in English
- Ideally 3+ years’ experience in managing a QEMS for a large or SME sized international business
- Degree level education
- ISO14001 Certification
- ISO9001 Internal Auditor Certification
- Knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations in the workplace
- Knowledge and experience of GDPR and its application
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to produce Board quality written reports
- Flexibility to travel in the UK and internationally when required
