An exciting position has arisen for a Commercial Development Executive to join a small busy team. You will work to support the sales teams to maximise advertising revenues across the DC Thomson Media portfolio, including Local and National sales across Newsbrands, Magazines, Events, Digital Media and Radio.

In this role you will work hand in hand with our commercial teams providing professional advertising sales support including responses to agency/client briefs, lead generation, campaign reporting as well as harnessing insight and data to introduce new ideas that will grow advertising revenues for the business.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • To be a central point of contact and support for sales staff assisting with materials to aid revenue generation including writing persuasive and authoritative reports, pitches and presentations using industry data to showcase our brands and audiences.
  • To proactively identify areas of opportunity where information from commercial development could deliver optimum business results, in particular keeping up to date with any developments with our own brands as well as competitor activity.
  • Ensure maintenance and development of the sales support portal for a self-service delivery of basic pitches.
  • Utilise Reader Panels to deliver campaign effectiveness research and develop case studies
  • Support delivery of strategic commercial projects, working closely with Commercial Development Partner.
  • Support for National Sales team ensuring agile and responsive reactions to agency briefs.
  • Deliver timely Campaign analysis of digital campaigns to maximise opportunities for sale.
  • Build and maintain a close relationship with the Insight Unit regarding insight projects, programmes, developments of existing products and new product launches. Feed relevant information into the commercial sales teams and adapting communications to suit advertising audiences.
  • To prepare, attend and present relevant research to professional audiences (external and internal)
  • To manage stakeholder relationships in a proactive and positive manner
  • To monitor and measure the impact and effectiveness of your commercial development outputs feeding into the Commercial Development Partner
  • To undertake continuous personal development and keep up-to-date with research, industry and advertising innovations


Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, Attributes and Experience

Required skills

  • Strong attention to detail
  • A commercially driven thinker that can identify and act upon opportunities
  • Good data visualisation and analysis skills
  • The ability to translate insight and data into sales arguments

  • The ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent report writing and presentation ability
  • A high-level of competency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable Criteria

  • 1-2 years' work experience in a similar role
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a marketing related discipline
  • Knowledge of key systems and metrics including Nielsen, Telmar, PAMCo, JICREG, TGI, RAJAR
  • Previous knowledge of working with advertising agencies
