Job Description

Corin is seeking a Paralegal / Legal Assistant who will hold a crucial role in Corin’s Legal amp; Compliance team. The Paralegal/ Legal Assistant will support the General Counsel and other members of the team with managing a range of interesting and varied activities. Compliance is a key part of the team’s remit and a significant part of the Paralegal / Legal Assistant role will involve working with other departments on compliance related initiatives.

Corin offers a unique combination of clinically proven hip amp; knee solutions and world leading technologies, our OMNIBotics amp; OPS systems utilize intelligent instrumentation to give surgeons the ability to perform patient-specific procedures with high accuracy, with more consistent results and improved recovery rates.

The main responsibilities of a Paralegal / Legal Assistant are to:

1) Compliance and Risk Projects - co-ordinate compliance related activities and projects

  • Maintain company policies and procedures on anti-bribery amp; corruption (ABAC), data protection, modern slavery, financial offences and healthcare compliance
  • Create and roll-out training
  • Work with commercial teams to conduct due diligence amp; screening on third parties such as sales agents, distributors, suppliers and other intermediaries
  • Co-ordinate the Group’s ethics hotline and managing reported violations or queries
  • Communicate and increase visibility of the Code of Conduct and compliance policies across the Group’s regions and functions
  • Assist with the Compliance amp; Ethics Committee (CEC), Compliance, Quality amp; Risk Committee (CQRC) and Clinical Grants amp; Review Committee (CGRC).

2) Commercial Contracts - Support the business with drafting, executing and maintaining commercial contracts

  • Assist with distribution agreements, agency agreements, NDAs, consignment amp; supply agreements etc.
  • Conduct contract audits in key areas
  • Create and maintain an online contracts database (e.g. Contract Works) for use by stakeholders.

3) Data Compliance

  • Support the Data Compliance Officer with data protection matters such as training, maintaining privacy notices, data processing agreements, DPIAs, risk assessments and handling reported or suspected breaches.

4) Company Secretarial

  • Maintain the company’s statutory registers and cap tables, Companies House filings, share issuances and transfers, board minutes amp; resolutions and information requests from shareholders.

5) IP and Insurance

  • Assist with managing the Group’s intellectual property portfolio (with external IP attorneys)
  • Assist with insurance renewals and administration (with external brokers)

6) Ad hoc transactions and assistance

  • Assist the General Counsel and Legal amp; Compliance team with any major transactions which arise, e.g., acquisitions, joint ventures.
  • Adhere to Quality Management System (QMS) requirements in line with Corin’s ISO13485 QMS amp; Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) FDA21 CFR Part 820
  • Ensure that process and timeline requirements for Corrective amp; Preventive Actions (CAPA) are met in accordance with Corin’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in support of Corin’s Global Objectives

Requirements

The ideal Group Paralegal will have / be:

  • Strong academic credentials, ideally including a degree or PG Diploma in law
  • Significant experience in a paralegal or similar role (in-house or private practice)
  • Proactive, hands-on, and able to build strong relationships throughout the business
  • Attention to detail and great organisational skills
  • Specific experience in compliance-related matters (ABAC, data protection or similar) and company secretarial/share issuances
