Job Description

A fast growing and changing organisation currently requires Payroll and Benefits coordinator to join them on a permanent basis in their Bury St Edmunds office. You will take responsibility for the timely and accurate provision of monthly payroll from processing, submission to reporting. You will the first point of call for any pay and benefits related queries from our employees and external providers, whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Key responsibilities:
Processing and administration of all payroll and benefits, this will include:

    • Ensuring the smooth and effective completion of the monthly payroll
    • Ongoing administration and support of current benefits, including promotion and communication
    • Year-end administration including running all year end reports for third parties and to support the finance team.
    • Main point of contact for all staff and line managers on pay or reward related queries.
    • The production of compliance 3rd party reconciliations for payment
    • Ensure that payroll processing procedures are kept up to date.
    • Administration associated with Pension Schemes.

In addition you will have responsibility of:

  • Calculation of sickness and maternity benefits together with taking the lead on advising those on sick leave and maternity leave of their entitlements.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation to implement as necessary.
  • Owning the relationship with HMRC and other external benefits providers.
  • Supporting with reward-based projects as required, for example salary benchmarking and review of benefits.
  • Providing data and analysis where necessary to support a range of key People Team projects.
  • Have a customer centric approach across all the work and activities you undertake ensuring absolute confidentiality and engendering trust and confidence within the team

Requirements

  • Qualified in Payroll through CIPP or equivalent.
  • A substantial background in payroll, the production of compliance reports and working with different pension schemes.
  • Experience in implementing process improvements to payroll.
  • A breadth and depth of payroll and benefits experience and detailed knowledge of the law around payroll, deductions, statutory payments etc.
  • Ability to calculate employees salary manually if required, i..e tax codes
  • Highly numerate with advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills will the ability to interpret data quickly and present as appropriate
  • Flexible, adaptable and ability to implement new information/learning quickly.
  • Willingness to be hands on and undertake whatever tasks are necessary within a small and very busy team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Proven experience in using Cascade payroll software.
  • Experience in benefits in a potential flex benefits environment
