Job Description

What does the job entail?

At Pixie Labs, we use agile technology delivery to help ambitious leaders reach their goals faster than they imagine possible. We partner with organisations to design, build and launch software that brings their most valuable technology-driven experiences to life.

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll help head up our clients’ development projects and write high-quality, reusable code whilst also sharing your knowledge and expertise with the rest of the team to help them do the same.

You will also contribute technical expertise throughout the project life cycle. This means on any given day you might be assisting with client pitches, breaking down and estimating projects, making well-reasoned architectural choices, testing, deploying and performing support amp; maintenance tasks.

If you're entrepreneurial in spirit and are keen to join a nimble team where you'll be challenged and can make your mark, this role is a perfect fit. On top of that, we value learners and we make regular time for self-improvement and experimenting with tech.

We're passionate about technical excellence and have established best practices clearly documented in our handbook. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to improving how we engage with clients and deliver our work.

For us, technology is a creative tool to solve real-world problems. That means we choose the best tools for the job and don't limit ourselves as a company. We use Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React, and various database technologies including PostgreSQL and Clickhouse, and we expect all our engineers to be keen on learning new technologies. Automation is critical for moving fast, so we make sure there is a CI/CD pipeline set up to build, test and release (and learn!).

Often we're responsible for setting up and deploying our client’s infrastructure so you’ll be hands-on with setting up applications on Heroku and AWS including using technologies like Terraform and Ansible.

Because we pick the best tools for the task at hand, you will get an opportunity to work in different languages and stacks. You will also need to be comfortable sharing your knowledge and skills with others. We’d love to hear some examples of mentoring, coaching and growing team members. Maybe you will have written some blog posts about your discipline, or perhaps even delivered a talk or two.

Remote work allowed.

Pixie Labs is an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
