Role: Finance Operation Team Leader

Employment Type: 12 Month FTC

Location: London HQ

Here at Gousto we are looking for a Finance Team Leader to lead a team of five (and growing) ambitious junior staff members, you will have overall accountability for the following functions:

  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable (although this is very small)
  • Bank reconciliations and cash management
  • Core ledger postings
  • Company expenses

To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to see the big picture whilst also being able to provide hands on support and cover junior team members if required (e.g. during absence). You are curious and do not like standing still - your passion is driving a best in class function. You thrive under pressure and do not shy away from difficult conversations with internal and external stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Matching supplier invoices with purchase orders, and processing credit notes
  • Driving invoice query resolution throughout the business by effective communications (e.g. organising meetings, business partnering)
  • Payments to suppliers within payment terms and / or credit limits via the weekly BACS run or on a one-off basis if required
  • Performing key reconciliations such as supplier statements and with the general ledger
  • Implementation of best in class internal controls, covering areas as bank account changes, payment approvals, system reconciliations
  • Maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, whilst balancing the need to improve Gousto's payment terms
  • Ownership of the company's expense management system, covering: 1) providing support to the business (E.g. setting up new employees); 2) processing expense claims for payment; 3) posting to the general ledger
  • Reconciling and posting the company's weekly and monthly payrolls to the ERP system
  • Unlocking potential of staff members
  • Having difficult conversations with suppliers - balancing the need to keep suppliers happy but do what best is the business
  • KPI development for the team


Who you are:

  • Demonstrable experience with accounts payable, bank reconciliations, general ledger postings and company expense claims.
  • Implementation of best in class controls across the above mentioned functions
  • Accounts receivable of some form - invoice generation, cash collection
  • Experience of leading and developing junior team members, evidenced by progression
  • Main finance operations contact for suppliers, and managing credit limit positions with the suppliers
  • Driving finance operation’s visibility across the business, including leading staff training and providing forums to drive invoice query resolution
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders, right up to the CFO and other Leadership team members
  • Strong financial literacy - Qualified Accountant or looking to become qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) is preferred
  • Invoice scanning experience (Pitney Bowes or similar systems)
  • Expense management systems as well as Corporate Banking Portals
  • Strong Excel and system skills
