The Role

Are you a part qualified Accounts Assistant who wants to take their next steps to being a Finance Manager/Financial Controller with a specific focus on Financial Reporting?

This role is all-encompassing to enable you to have a good understanding of all the operational processes in Finance and how they all work together. You will be involved in Business as Usual (BAU) activities such as:

• Payment Runs
• Maintaining the Sales, Payables and Receivables ledger
• Reconciliations including Bank and Supplier
• VAT Returns, Sales Tax Returns, and other compliance
• Assisting with Cash Flow management and Budget.

Once you have grasped BAU activities, your role will have a heavy focus on reporting:

• Development of regular Internal Reporting with the Finance Manager
  • Establishing appropriate timelines for Monthly Reporting with a balance between accuracy and speed
  • Continuous development and improvement of accuracy of both Pamp;L and Balance Sheet
  • Working with the CFO on Board Reporting, including Financial and non-Financial KPIs.
• Creating the Statutory Accounts with the Accountants. You will:
  • Be first port of call with all queries
  • Use your awareness of Internal (e.g. Operational issues) and External (e.g. Accounting Standards) changes that will have an impact on the Statutory Accounts and plan accordingly.

In addition to the above, you will work closely with the Finance Manager on upcoming projects; how far involved you are in these depends on, 1 your capacity, 2 your willingness to challenge yourself.

Requirements

Ideally you will have worked in an Accounts Team for a couple of years with an understanding of what ‘good’ reporting looks like. You will:

• Have strong to advanced Excel skills
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Know the importance of prioritisation
• Experience with Xero is desired though not necessary.

This role is for someone who likes to be hands on and is not scared to juggle a few things at the same time. You must be diligent, a quick learner, and understand that perfection is not always the best solution in a growing Finance team.
