Due to rapid growth, THG is recruiting a Shift Manager for Inventory Team who will be responsible for managing the teams on night shift. Your teams will be responsible for investigating and resolving issues related to inventory and general errors / issues with the Warehouse Management System. You will be managing Team Managers (supervisors) who will have colleagues reporting into them and you will be required to ensure that your teams meet or exceed our targets for safety, quality and productivity.

Shift pattern = Mon to Fri 8 hours per night flexible start / finish time between hours of 18.30 PM - 05.00 AM

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure that your teams are all operating efficiently, safely and that quality standards are met so that customers receive a good experience.
  • Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives
  • Work with the Learning and Development team to ensure that all staff in your teams receive the relevant training so that they can all operate safely, efficiently and deliver a good quality customer experience
  • Review work forecasts with planning team and determine resource required to meet the department objectives
  • Work closely with other Shift Managers across the site to ensure that there is a good balance in terms of resource allocation
  • Lead, manage and motivate your Team Managers so they can effectively manage colleagues.
  • Allocate staff to certain areas and check that staffing levels are in line with volume order
  • Plan the shifts to optimize throughput and efficiency
  • Work with Health amp; Safety to ensure that all members of your team have been suitably trained for each task that they are asked to perform so that they can operate safely and in line with THG’s Health amp; Safety policies and procedures.
  • You will be required to communicate instructions from Senior Operations Staff to your direct reports and Team clearly and ensure that these are followed.
  • Deliver Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) through effective use of resources and management of staff.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics and performance indicators to enable the accurate and timely monitoring of objectives. Run and update daily reports, explaining any abnormalities
  • Be active in identifying problems and propose solutions to address
  • Identify key members of the team for development, match people and opportunities to promote succession planning
  • Manage absence and attrition through effective use of policies and procedures to ensure that labour targets are delivered.
  • Work with the people team to manage any employee relations issues including disciplinaries and absence reviews
  • Plan and lead complex or large-scale projects designed to improve efficiencies and identify opportunities for improvement using use relevant data to analyse trends and identify relevant business implications from this information.
  • Where the business implements changes, communicate the purpose of changes and encourage others to contribute positively to and participate in the change process


Requirements

To be considered you will need to have the following Skills and Experience

  • Degree in STEM/logistics/supply chain or similar
  • Previous experience managing a team in an automated e-commerce fulfilment environment is a plus
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience managing, motivating and developing a team in a fulfilment environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills
  • Experience Objective setting and managing department via KPI’s
  • Good understanding of H amp; S and HR procedures
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to build a rapport with staff at all levels of the operation
  • Ability to remain focused with a good attention to detail
  • Good at working under pressure, managing your time and your team’s timed effectively and solving problems
  • Good team player
  • IT literate: Excel amp; Word. Knowledge of statistical tools like SPSS, Minitab a plus
  • You will also need to be flexible and happy to work NIght Shifts pattern = Mon to Fri 8 hours per night flexible start / finish time
