If so read on.

We are currently looking for a Category Leader to lead the Business Development division where you will be responsible for the sales consultant activity and portfolio growth efforts by developing and ensuring execution of the strategy. Responsible for the highest level of Customer Care to Veterinary Practices across the UK and ensuring internal teams are driving toward the common strategic goals and objective for the category Builds. Leading by fostering a team culture and ensuring their ongoing professional development to effectively carry out their roles. Managing key goals and objectives of the team through engagement, motivation and sound performance management.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage all Field Sales Consultants nationally, ensure reporting compliance via Sales Force and maintain weekly reporting form the team on pipeline, open and closed activity for Senior Management understanding. Ultimately accountable for the performance (both financial and operational) of the Business Development category.
  • Establish and document expected sales and lead goals to meet growth expectations.
  • Working as the significant face of Covetrus to all UK customers and working with the Marketing team to plan, organize and ensure implementation of effective strategies using all company programs, tools and initiatives to maintain existing business and increase market share to achieve budget. Work in partnership with other Business Unit Leaders to ensure any leads across categories are actively managed and progressed within the relevant sales teams.
  • Support field Sales Consultants and ensure they respond in a timely fashion to customer concerns and follow-up actions to ensure customer issues / opportunities are communicated to the appropriate department, providing the very best service levels to customers.
  • Effectively manage strategic and important key accounts and build corporate relationships make face-to-face contact when appropriate.
  • Work across internal departments and businesses to develop the Covetrus Business development Strategy and ensure goals and objective are met. Work to facilitate actions required to support Field sales and hold monthly status meetings to ensure smooth transactions both internally and externally. Work constructively as a key member of the commercial team to delivery strategic priorities for the Business Development category. Anticipate requirements from internal departments and work collaboratively and constructively to ensure these are achieved in a timely manner to deliver required business performance.
  • Partner with all Covetrus UK businesses to meet strategic goals and lead generation, with close networking required.
  • Manage own time and territory effectively and profitably. With the support of the UK Sales Director, translate Covetrus Customer Operations yearly financial objectives into category commercial plans, including monthly financial targets and activities to achieve these. Manage category budgets and business plans appropriately to achieve required performance results.
  • Build Field Sales event days with Sales Specialists, customer care and Sales executives to drive new leads improve knowledge and industry knowledge of the development
  • Facilitate development of others; ensure regular communication with and appraisal of all field sales Consultants. Manage performance where necessary.
  • Ensure Field Sales Consultants are given information on various animal health meetings / seminars and participate in all training programs as instructed.
  • Effectively communicate with all individuals and departments to fulfill role and work objectives.
  • Maintain communication with UK Sales Director on a timely basis and facilitate quarterly sales meetings.
  • Responsible for recruitment and retention of sales team and ensure appropriate skill mix to support national territory cover.
  • Ensure own continuous professional development and ensure an up to date knowledge of the veterinary sales and animal health market.
  • Accountable for adherence to Covetrus UK company policies and procedures.
  • Work in a professional and harmonious manner and cooperate with all Covetrus personnel in the execution of all company programs.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
