iland is looking for an experienced Cloud Operations Engineer to help manage all aspects of iland’s cloud compute systems, including capacity planning, cluster provisioning, alert monitoring, and escalations. This is a full-time position based in the EMEA region and reports to the Director of Cloud Operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide complete ownership and accountability of all responsibilities assigned regarding iland’s cloud compute systems
- Provide training and mentoring around VMware and related systems
- Develop, track, and report KPIs associated with cloud system capacity (CPU, memory, storage, etc.)
- Manage cluster compute capacity (hosts, CPU/memory, etc.)
- Responsible for cluster provisioning, alert monitoring, and environmental management
- Provide cluster-level engineering for DR solutions
- Act as an iland escalation engineer for customer problems including participation in engineering on-call rotation
- Provide overflow capacity for Cloud Services deployment engineering functions, as needed
Requirements
The following skills represent the minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
- University degree in technical discipline
- 5+ years recent experience as a technical, hands-on, enterprise VMware administrator
- Experience working with global data center environments
- Experience with large-scale virtualization clusters with hundreds of VMs per cluster
- Excellent communicator, high energy, positive attitude, aptitude for professional growth
- Experience implementing and managing VMware vCloud/vSphere environments
Preferred Skills
The following skills represent additional proficiencies preferred to be successful in this position:
- VMware VCP/VCAP certified
- SAN experience
- Enterprise customer-facing technical support experience
- Microsoft server administrative experience (Server, SQL, etc.)
- NSX or Cisco CCNA/CCNP (Network or Data Center) certified
- Experience with backup and DR solutions such as Veeam and Zerto
