SEDNA is looking for an Interaction Designer to join our growing Product team! We're looking for someone that understands that good design is not about trends but is built on top of principles and tradeoffs, and that makes well-reasoned design decisions always advocating for the best possible user experience, inclusive design and accessibility. As an Interaction Designer you will.

  • transform complex challenges into inspiring stories, products and services that live across desktop and mobile environments
  • advocate for users and understanding user needs to design simple, effective and accessible features
  • create prototypes and concepts to communicate and test ideas with users and improve with evidence
  • map story maps, user journeys, processes and visualising design problems
  • collaborating within a multidisciplinary team by sharing design work, participating in research
  • advocating for user-centred design and being an active part of the Design community within SEDNA to share ideas, best practice and proactively help and support each other


Your portfolio should demonstrate clear thinking and novel solutions that address business value and user needs.

Day to day, you will be working with the team to capture user needs, define service maps, and working out the fine details of how users will ultimately interact with the interfaces we are creating.

We’re looking for people who are open to experimenting with new techniques and technologies. Interaction Designers work hand-in-hand with Product Managers and Designers, as well as Engineers to ensure that our solutions are fit-for-purpose.

Requirements

Must-haves:

  • Interaction Design experience, preferably in a start-up or fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using a human-centred design research methodologies to probe, assess and evaluate behaviours of targeted groups of people, translating that knowledge into meaningful information to inform and improve the experience and design of our application.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills - naturally curious and enjoy identifying and delivering solutions to complex problems, by using technology.
  • Empathy, and a passion for building the best user experience and user interface.
  • Excellent communication skills, you keep it simple and make complicated details and problems understandable to a non technical audience.
  • A passion for using data and insights in decision making.
  • Experience with prototyping, creating story maps, writing user stories and agile software development practices.
  • Self starter, comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Experience of developing and working with Product Design Systems.
  • Experience using Figma, Sketch and Adobe CC.


Nice-to-haves:

  • Post-secondary education is Design, or related field.
  • An interest in the possibilities of AI, machine learning and data.
  • Previous experience mentoring designers.
