BI Developer
Based: High Wycombe, London or Remote (UK Only)
Term: Full-time Permanent
Salary: 40-55k
Focusrite are looking for an experienced developer to join our growing business intelligence team. You’ll help us build and maintain a robust yet malleable data stack, delivering high quality information where it’s needed (and keeping it secure where it’s not!).
We make extensive use of Rivery, Snowflake and Power BI, among other tools. We work closely together, using pair programming, peer review and DevOps practices. We relish the chance to learn new things, independently and from each other.
The role
Your work will form the vital first stage in our pipeline, bringing raw data from multiple sources into our data warehouse using Rivery, a flexible ingestion automation service. You’ll join us on our first major change to using this tool, as we migrate our process definitions into GitHub and automate their deployment using Circle CI. (By that stage we will have our entire stack orchestrated using GitHub, with every asset source controlled and deployed via pull request approval.)
From there, you’ll help us to add new data sources and optimise existing ones, reducing time-to-insight and cost.
We’re organised around our data pipeline, but we collaborate across the whole stack as we plan new projects. As such you’ll help us design improvements to our warehousing and visualisations, and help us communicate with stakeholders across our group.
About you
You’re handy with SQL, able to identify optimisations and data quality issues with a pithy query. You enjoy the satisfaction of automating a manual process, making It faster, more accurate and cheaper. And you relish the opportunities we’ll explore after you’ve set our ingestions running like clockwork building on them to automate not just data sources, but interactive ihputs and outputs too perhaps developing an API or in-house web app.
You’re also familiar with data warehousing practices, visualisation and delivery tools like Power BI, and you have an interest in outcomes as well as infrastructure.
You’ll have:
- Deep amp; varied experience of data infrastructure in an enterprise or SME
- Plenty of experience with ETL / ELT tools like Rivery, Stitch and so on
- A background in databases amp; programming
- Great communication and teamwork skills
