We are currently seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Glasgow, Scotland. As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible for professionally securing and managing a portfolio of new customers, ensuring that sales and GP targets are met, whilst ensuring they remain satisfied and loyal minimising competitor threats within Scotland.
Key duties and responsibilities.
- Responsible and accountable for new business development and account management
- Responsible for analysing and monitoring account spends, whilst maximising where possible
- Record accurate and detailed summary of visits and phone calls, including all actions, on company CRM
- Give direction to the Sales Support executive, delegating all appropriate work to them whilst touching base with them frequently
- Conduct effective customer sales visits. Where appropriate agree next meeting date
- Conduct proactive customer phone calls
- Ensure adequate preparation for visits and phone calls
- Plan your day to ensure efficient and productive use of time including travel time
- Insist on adherence to procedures (e.g., quotes and CRM) both personally and with colleagues and avoid doing nonsales work by passing onto relevant department with clear instructions
- Plan your week to ensure that sales activity KPIs are met
- Follow up key opportunities where relevant
Requirements
- Previous exposure within an external business development role
- Experience within packaging solutions to the food industry
- Ability to build rapport
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Strong time management and planning skills
Monday - Friday 08:00-17:00
