WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Ripjar develops sophisticated data analysis and visualisation software capable of analysing large amounts of data at scale using cutting edge machine learning analytics.

We're looking for experienced, highly motivated Software Architects to support the design and development of Ripjar's software products. As part of the Architecture team, you will work closely with the Chief Architect, contributing to the overall architecture of Ripjar’s software products and ensuring that software designs conform to architecture standards and patterns.

You will have a proven track record designing successful software architectures, and will have a strong technical background in software development. You will be an excellent communicator and will be comfortable interacting with customers, stakeholders and development teams. You will have a good appreciation of several key parts of the Ripjar technology stack, and will be familiar with large-scale distributed systems and data processing technologies. You will have an excellent grasp of software design principles.

As a Software Architect you will:-

• Work with customers and stakeholders to understand and document functional and non-functional requirements for Ripjar’s products.
• Design software architectures and software components to meet these requirements.
• Work with the engineering teams to support the implementation of software designs.
• Contribute to the design of Ripjar’s overall platform and the development of architectural frameworks and design guidelines.
• Ensure consistent application of architectural decisions and guidelines across Ripjar's software products.

Requirements

• Strong software development background.
• Excellent software design skills.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Familiarity with distributed and horizontally-scaled data processing systems.
• Good understanding of micro-service architectures.
• Experience of software development in agile environments and an understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-starter, capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Technical Skills/Experience

• Experience with any of Elasticsearch, Kafka, MongoDB, Node.js and Redis.
• Knowledge or large-scale data processing systems such as Spark and Hadoop.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages and/or programming paradigms.
