The role
Forward is looking for an experienced leader to join us as our Head of Engineering and Product. You’ll be responsible for guiding and supporting the product and engineering team, pushing us to produce the best possible outcomes for Forward and our portfolio. As much of your time may be spent advising founders and portfolio technology teams as it is leading the strategy and delivery of products themselves, we expect that you will develop a culture of excellence, grow leaders, and inspire innovation. We’re a small, tight-knit team and this is a senior and strategic, yet still hands-on role.

- Help scale our portfolio companies. You’re someone that’s able to inspire founders, teams and our community with the potential and possibilities that come from crafting great products, developed with the right technology.
- Inform the product and technology strategy - ensuring it’s executed brilliantly. This doesn’t mean perfect - it means being pragmatic over purist.
- Be the product and engineering owner, responsible for the product strategy, technical architecture, standards, driving our technical direction and being the driving force behind delivery.
- Collaborate with founders to develop roadmaps for their company whilst working with cross-functional teams.
- Partner with the portfolio from a product and engineering perspective, helping to define product roadmaps and deliver high quality outputs.
- Lead and master our existing infrastructure, as well as our portfolio companies’, question everything and offer suggestions of improvement.
- Be a thought leader and run roundtables/events for both engineering and product leaders across the start-up ecosystem.
- Be responsible for the overall performance and management of the engineering and product team, including reporting, mentoring and scaling the team.
- Foster a culture of excellence across the team, ensuring both quality and velocity.
- Develop a network of development partners that we can work with to support the needs of our portfolio, both onshore and offshore.
