This Role comprises an internal facing element, working with our engineering, product delivery and support teams, as well as an outward facing component working with our professional services team to prepare and deploy our products onto client environments.



  • Hands-on leadership of global DevOps department, provide coaching, direction and support to team.
  • Establish and develop Napier’s short and long-term strategy for DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure.
  • Leadership and executive design of Napier’s DevOps Architecture and Automation programme.
  • In collaboration with Engineering and Product leadership, forward plan and deliver Napier’s product backlog.
  • Proactive management of technology obsolescence, including OS and Framework versions.
  • Manage and review the output of the DevOps team.
  • Lead definition and delivery of CI/CD environments for global development team
  • Lead definition and delivery of packaging and deployment for our on-premise and cloud hosted customers.


  • Strong DevOps leadership background and history of building and leading global teams in highly-agile environments.
  • Proven background leading DevOps teams delivering high performance, highly available and resilient applications and architectures.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to motivate and develop a high performing team.
  • Solid technical background, with hands-on experience in automated, agile environments delivering products, ideally in highly regulated on-premise environments as well as SaaS.
  • Experience of Data Architectures and technologies, including ElasticSearch, Cassandra, Kafka, Python and JVM languages, including Java and Scala.
  • Experience in DevOps tooling and frameworks, including Ansible, TerraForm, Kubernetes, Mesos, Marathon, Docker, CRI-O, Podman, and ideally Openshift.
  • Experience of RBAC/SSO technologies
  • Ability to manage competing requirements in meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work well across teams, with software engineers, commercial and project teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience providing support to a wide customer base
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • A desire to find ways to continually improve the service delivered to customers
