Job Description

Location: Twinkl HQ, Sheffield Annual Salary: 17,500

Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Line Manager: Content Team Leader Recruiter: M Cheng

On the Beyond Secondary Resources Team you will be working alongside other Graphic Designers, Illustrators and Teacher Content Writers/Editors to produce stylish, functional resources to be used by Secondary school educators across the world. Dependent upon your previous experiences you will be assigned to one of three subject content teams: English, Maths or Science, although various other projects and opportunities will work their way into the fold as you progress beyond your initial 2 week training period. With the above in mind, you should be passionate about education and excited to contribute to a market-leading, forward-thinking global business.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • Creation of print and presentation teaching resources (additional opportunities upcoming)
  • Liaising with Illustrators and Content Writers/Editors to negotiate the best design outcomes for your assigned material.
  • Involvement in design for marketing campaigns and general social media promotions.

Here on the Beyond team our attitude, outlook and culture is a little different to that of the wider Twinkl company. With the secondary market in mind consisting of both teachers and students one of the most important factors we must respect is the need for appropriate degrees of maturity and formality in what we do. As such, our message, tone of voice and overall approach to our demographic reflects this necessity but that isn’t to say the Beyond team doesn’t consist of lovely people. Each Subject Team is made up of capable, focussed and mindful individuals who work to support each other in everything we do, ultimately making for a well-rounded, dedicated group of individuals. While the Beyond team previously Twinkl Secondary - has had a firm foothold within the company for over a year now, we are still growing and expanding what it is that we offer to our customers, so you will be joining us at an exciting time where new ideas and the motivation to realise them are very welcome indeed.

To succeed in the role, you will need:

  • Experience using InDesign and Photoshop (also Illustrator, though this is less essential)
  • Experience using Microsoft office, especially Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback on designs
  • An eye for detail, creativity and imagination

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to follow and maintain both brand guidelines and brand consistency.
  • The ins and outs of an office-based ‘production line’ working style - carrying a piece of learning material from conception to delivery.
  • ‘Agile’ production methods (such as Scrum and Sprint)

You’ll work with:

  • Teachers and illustrators, negotiating the best possible final product in the process.
  • Your line manager (also the Beyond Brand Manager) to establish practical and visually appealing resources, both tried-and-tested and brand new, that are best suited to both teachers and students in a secondary school environment.

Requirements

We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:

  • Is good fun to be with and has the ability to communicate well with others
  • Is organised, able to work to deadlines, and manages time effectively
  • Is able to communicate with colleagues and our external partners effectively, both written and verbally
  • Has a hard work ethic, is passionate, driven and loves what they do
  • Is honest, trustworthy and reliable

Benefits

If you require a reasonable adjustment to the application/selection process to enable you to demonstrate your ability to perform the job requirements please include this at the foot of your covering letter. This will help us to understand any modifications we may need to make to support you throughout our selection process.

In return for everything you can bring, we can offer you an exciting role in a fast-growing and dynamic business, with plenty of career opportunities.

Here’s a couple of the things that make Twinkl a great place to be:

  • A friendly, welcoming and supportive culture. We believe work should be fun and always put people before process.
