Job Description

Forward Partners is an early-stage venture capital firm, meets startup studio.

We invest from day zero through to Series A, focusing primarily on applied AI, marketplaces and e-commerce. Out of our early-stage funds, we’ve invested in 55+ companies including Patch, Appear Here, Fy!, CountingUp. Makers and Koru Kids.

In keeping with our core belief that the real work begins after founders raise money, our purpose-built startup studio of in-house engineers, designers, marketers, and talent specialists is on-hand to support our companies to design, build and grow.

We also fund growth of all stages through our equity-free revenue-based finance product, Forward Advances.

What will I be doing?
  • Steering product led growth experiments from inception to launch, and owning large parts of the product’s execution.
  • Partnering with and becoming a trusted advisor to our founders on all things SW Engineering.
  • Architecting new features and reusable UI paradigms using ReactJS with the goal of delighting and increasing the success of our portfolio companies.
  • Contributing to the development of the portfolio companies product while working with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, and engineers.
  • Contributing to building features on mobile/web using design and API mocks and write contracts, integration amp; unit tests for features built.
  • Contributing to workshops.
  • Performing peer code reviews.
What experience would be valuable?
  • You can build applications using modern UI frameworks such as React.js.
  • You have familiarity with popular JavaScript tools, frameworks and design principles, and enjoy staying up to date with the changing JavaScript ecosystem landscape.
  • You have a deep understanding of Advanced CSS amp; JS including animations.
  • You probably have an eye for well functioning user interfaces, at least insight into both design and UX principles.
  • You have a knack for understanding the user flows and building them out. You also have great design intuition and user empathy.
  • You have deep interest about the technical stack you work on to understand it better and build out responsive products.
  • You have worked with build tools like webpack or rollup.
  • You have strong communication skills.

Further details

Role type: full time, permanent.

Location: remote at the moment. Later in the year we will be adopting a hybrid working model, where we will spend 2-days a week together in our office (Old Street, London). You therefore must be able to travel into London.

The process from here
  1. Apply online and submit your portfolio/GitHub/piece of work (if you have something ready to go), in addition to your CV.
  2. If we think your experience is a match, a member of our Talent team will be in touch to invite you to an intro call.
  3. The ‘Forward Deep Dive’ will follow. This is a 1-1.5 hour technical interview, designed to dig into your experience and technical skills.
  4. Then it’s onto the ‘Forward Experience’. This will differ per role, but will typically include a task + playback, then two interviews (including meeting Nic, our Founder and CEO).
  5. You will then be invited to have a virtual coffee with the team.
