This is a senior role within the Palatinate Group finance team responsible for end to end ownership over all areas of financial processing within Palatinate Group. This includes managing Accounts Payable and Credit Control teams, ensuring a robust internal controls framework, striving for efficiency improvements across all processes, delivering projects that improve the effectiveness of the financial processing function and delivering to SLA levels.


What you will be doing

As the Group Head of Financial Processing you will be responsible for / required to

  • Manage the Accounts Payable department for the Palatinate Group. Ensure the most efficient process is adopted for invoice processing, and payments runs are managed in a way that optimises the working capital profile of the group.
  • Manage the Credit Control function, ensuring that customer balances are collected in line with terms and conditions.
  • Manage the bank postings and reconciliations function, ensuring complete and accurate posting of receipts into the accounting system. Oversee posting of employee expenses.
  • Ensure the team is well supported, properly trained and managed effectively.
  • Maintain controls that deliver a robust environment and minimise financial risk.
  • Ensure a robust reconciliation and control environment. Identifying risk areas and implementing processes to mitigate.
  • Ensure aged creditor reports and aged debtor reports are regularly reviewed and areas of risk are identified and communicated to financial control teams with actions agreed for resolution.
  • Oversee issue management amp; resolution processes, invoice quality and payment administration.
  • Ongoing review of internal processes and procedures for improvements and processing efficiency, ensuring the team are processing effectively with the tools provided and that operating issues are escalated and followed through for resolution.
  • Produce KPI reports on productivity, highlighting main issues and concerns as well as positive feedback on performance.
  • Review and monitor SLA’s and processing KPIs, looking for trends, identifying improvements and isolating areas of concern.
  • Generate proposals for processing improvements and new technologies to suit the needs of the department, improving processing efficiencies and the control framework.
  • Work closely with the business to develop and support changes required to improve customer services and supplier management, writing business cases and analysing systems changes.
  • Maintain effective relationships with our internal and external customers ensuring timely and regular communication is made.
  • Ownership of Palatinate Group finance processing policies.
  • Ensure authorisation matrices and policies are adhered to within each area of processing.
  • Ensure master data and payments processes are clearly managed with regard to segregation of duties and effective internal controls.
  • Support the financial control teams on issue management, improving controls and understanding on AP and AR processes, discussing and changing as required to business change.
  • Contribute to the cash flow forecast, inputting on forecasted supplier payments and customer receipts.
  • Manage the short-term cash requirements of the group through working capital management as required

Requirements

  • AAT or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent people management skills in a high volume finance processing shared services environment
  • Excellent knowledge and substantial experience of Financial Control, Accounts Payable, Credit Control and Banking processes and relevant business requirements
  • SAGE or similar accounting system knowledge required, including understanding of workflow, scanning and automation solutions
