Job Description

Clinical Data Specialist

Digital Surgery is a data-driven company implementing cutting-edge AI technology, computer vision, and augmented reality to the operating room and surgical training. Our goal is to deliver safer surgery around the world. The DS1 is our first OR device, allowing surgeons, team members, and trainees to securely access videos of their procedures shortly after surgery. The device uses advanced AI algorithms that enable automatic processing and uploading of videos. Our surgical training platform is the award-winning Touch Surgery application that provides safe and accessible training for surgeons and other health care professionals.

We are currently looking for a Clinical Data Specialist for our Innovation Team. In this role, you will be responsible for project management of our Ramp;D data annotation projects. The post-holder will have experience of working with clinical data, databases, project management and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be required to liaise closely with a variety of stakeholders across Digital Surgery, the wider company and externally.

Primary responsibilities

  • Oversee and improve the data transfer process for Ramp;D annotation projects to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand and uphold the strict data ethics and information governance policies.
  • Responsible for following all internal policies relating to all aspects of data management, including access and transfer of our surgical video content.
  • Develop systems and processes to monitor internal and external annotation pipelines to ensure effective, scalable and efficient delivery.
  • Manage contracting, vendor assessments, vendor onboarding and payment processes.
  • Assist with annotation project setups.
  • Responsible for project monitoring and preparation of regular reports to internal stakeholders
  • Implement processes to streamline the annotation pipeline including training and QA.
  • Manage and allocate resources for data annotation projects.
  • Work closely with the Research and Computer Vision teams to prioritise projects and ensure that projects are sufficiently resourced and delivered on time.
  • Collaborate with our internal Annotation and Medical teams, and other Business Units, as required.
  • Assist and support in presentations including reports, PowerPoint presentation etc.


Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience

Experience and skills:

  • Experience of operations and/or project management and reporting including budgets and timesheets.
  • Previous experience of research and development administration, preferably in a commercial Research and Development facility, research funding organisation, Higher Education Institute or an NHS authority.
  • Experience of managing large projects, and preferably datasets.
  • Understanding of the complexity of managing healthcare data including HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2 compliance.
  • Dynamic, flexible and responsive - evidence of ability to prioritise multiple workloads whilst meeting deadlines.
  • Evidence of advanced IT skills including excel, database management and project tracking software.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Proven capability of working independently and as a part of a team.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of staff, students and external contacts.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams with client-facing departments.
  • An innovative and enthusiastic approach to working.
  • Attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Interest to learn about surgery and machine learning.
  • Familiarity with recent developments within the biomedical medical research and healthcare sectors.
  • You believe quality is in the details.
  • You are flexible you can independently solve problems as they arise, but are comfortable asking for help when needed.
