Dolomite Microfluidics, a brand within the Blacktrace Group, is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of high quality innovative microfluidic products and systems. To support our rapidly growing team we are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking Commercial Manager. This is a position on the brand’s management team, reporting to the Managing Director. Ideally, we are looking for a person who is ready to take the next step in their career progression, wanting to step up into a senior management position.

You will have a proven track record of high performance in a Marketing or Sales function, delivering commercial success in a science based B2B environment and will manage and grow our busy and talented Marketing, Sales and Support teams.

You will take responsibility for defining and implementing our Marketing strategy and be responsible for overseeing global Sales and Support activities for Dolomite Microfluidics. This will mean managing the UK based Marketing team as well as managing a Sales and Support team located in the UK and the US (a growing team of six people currently). You will also work closely with our regional offices in Japan and Hanoi.

You will set a ‘customer first’ market leader vision for the team and take full responsibility for the brand’s customer relationship management strategy and implementation. You will set the vision, goals and objectives of the team as well as developing the individuals in the team.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Define marketing strategy, aligned with broader business, product, applications and sales objectives.
  • Plan and lead CRM, customer journey and touchpoint strategy and implementation.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive marketing plan to increase brand awareness, increase leads, retain our customers, and position us correctly in the markets we operate in.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify challenges and opportunities for growth.
  • Manage the Sales team effectively and grow sales for Dolomite Microfluidics globally.
  • Manage all pre-sale and post-sale customer helpdesk and Support activities.
  • Lead, manage and motivate the commercial teams to achieve ambitious targets and meet KPIs.
  • Oversee, manage and optimise the brand’s global distributors.
  • Set activity and order intake targets for all members of the Sales team (including distribution partners).
  • Accurately forecast future sales and form sales plans to adapt to constant shifts in the marketplace.
  • Drive proactive sales initiatives (such as workshops, roadshows, account management, etc.) and plan attendance at industry events and conferences to generate new business leads.
  • Excellent people management and continuous training and development of all members of the team.
  • Create a strong process structure and framework and ensure they are followed by the team.
  • Measure, analyse and report on our Sales, Marketing and Support data to refine activity and inform strategy.
  • Work closely with the Business Development, Engineering and Science amp; Applications teams to help ensure that the brand’s new products and applications are customer focused and right for the market.
  • Travelling overseas to customers, events and to members of the team.

Requirements

  • A good degree qualification (preferably from a scientific or engineering discipline, marketing or management qualification).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior Marketing or Sales role.
  • Proven experience in B2B marketing, ideally in a company providing multiple scientific or technical products.
  • Ability to manage, guide and lead people to achieve ambitious targets and through periods of change.
  • Strategic mindset, with ability to make difficult decisions.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Excellent communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, especially public speaking and presentations.
  • Demonstrable experience designing and implementing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent knowledge of using CRM and Marketing automation (Salesforce and Pardot preferred) and how they integrate with business systems.
  • Broad knowledge of marketing tactics, including SEO, PPC, email amp; social media, when to use them and how to derive data and insight.
  • Previous experience in successful and strong sales management
