A quick look at the role
This role will primarily support the provision of long-term work experience placements at Biffa as part of the governments Kickstart Scheme. The role will provide mentoring and pastoral support to Kickstart Placement holders and line managers as well as support the coordination and management of the Kickstart Scheme at Biffa. In addition you will be responsible for developing our talent attraction campaign and also have a responsibility towards the development of capability and improving the potential of young people

- Support Kickstarter placement holders and line managers throughout their placements, acting as a mentor and offering advice and guidance as they prepare to move into employment building confidence and motivation
- Manage Lamp;OD and Line Manager relationships and activities required to identify, recruit, onboard and induct Kickstart placement holders
- Support the Lamp;OD team with the design, development and implementation of a variety of different development activities to suit multiple environments (work experience placements could be placed in any division or function)
- Provide support to the Lamp;OD team to undertake activity in relation to assessing the overall quality of the Kickstart Scheme at Biffa through development of evaluation templates and processes and the collation and wider communication of results across relevant stakeholders and the project sponsor
- Identify and deliver effective partnerships with further education organisations
- Represent Biffa at careers fairs and educational / early careers conferences.
- Responsible for establishing and measuring capability gaps and identifying and implementing subsequent development programmes improve capability and potential
- Support ‘Kickstarters’ to complete job applications, create CV’s and cover letters and prepare for interviews/assessments
- Initiate and manage specific campaigns to promote careers in Biffa to young people
Requirements
- Experience mentoring and providing pastoral support to young people (16 to 24)
- Working knowledge of training and career opportunities post 16
- Ability to effectively utilise current LMI (Labour Market Information) to the benefit of our Kickstart employees
- Knowledge of apprenticeships, traineeships and other work-based learning programmes
- Understanding of the challenges facing young people looking for employment
- Computer literate with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Personable with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
- Driven to help people succeed and develop
- Excellent attention for detail and time management skills
- Flexibility to travel nationally for infrequent meetings as required
