We have grown substantially in the last few years and our teams are now in a position to train and nurture our engineers of the future. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has a keen interest in software development, who wants to use the latest technologies amp; to make a start on their career as an engineer.

You will be training on the level 4 software developer programme, and work on an initial 6 month project. You will spend 20% of your time at College and the remaining 80% with us.

As our apprentice you will work alongside some of the best engineers, during your apprenticeship you will have access to a mentor and training support. You will also have access to off the job training with a government approved training provider. You will get the opportunity to undertake a variety of tasks, some of which include but are not limited to: writing clean code, designing and building frontend applications, complex problem solving, fault finding, debugging amp; introductions to scrum processes and agile methodologies. You will be exposed to everything that we feel is essential for you to learn at this stage of your career, which will allow you to finish the apprenticeship with the skills and knowledge to join the team as a junior developer.

We are using the latest tools for development (GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes) and modern software development methodologies with Scrum. Our application currently uses: Node.js, Plottable.js, D3.js, React, Redux, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Kibana, PostgreSQL, Redis, Apache Flink, and Microservices.

Requirements

• The opportunity to work on the market leading industrial AI platform- brains.app
• You will be working on a project that requires you to build features in our front-end application and front-end web service, including data visualisations, dashboarding, configuration, and charts;
• Work on fixing bugs that have been found in the front-end application by our quality assurance team;
• Champion teamwork and collaborate within the engineering team to better integrate the data processing platform and the application Frontend;
• Help make suggestions and decisions around tools and processes to improve our Frontend work;

• Five GCSE grades C - A* (4-9) or equivalent, including English and Maths
• Level 3 qualification (A level, BTEC or equivalent)

After your Software Engineering apprenticeship, you can progress into a junior developer role (this includes web and app development). You'll have the skills to continue growing within a tech team, and have enough knowledge/experience to pick up new languages with ease. Software Engineering Level 4 will also provide a good foundation for transitioning into data science.
