The multi-disciplined, multi-skilled Facilities team is supported by a strong supply chain and specialist service partners. Sewell Facilities are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year via a Helpdesk which is part of our Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system.


Role Overview:

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Gas Maintenance Technician (GMT) will work within a multiskilled and diverse maintenance team and be responsible for responding to all allocated plumbing and mechanical tasks across the Sewell Facilities property portfolio. This will include planned preventative maintenance tasks and general maintenance repairs to building fabric and associated equipment as well as responding to other client requirements at the direction of our Customer Care Team (CCT)

The role will be worked flexibly on a shift pattern with additional flexibility as required and will include rotational participation in our out of hours on-call service providing 24/7 peace of mind for our customers.


Hours: 40hrs per week; Monday to Friday 8.00am 4:30pm

Location: Hull, York and surrounding areas. Company van included


Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking planned preventative maintenance servicing and inspections across a selection of plumbing, mechanical and ventilation equipment where qualified.
  • Responding to reactive maintenance and breakdown requests to keep buildings operational at all times.
  • Responding to other tasks as requested by the CCT.
  • Providing cover on other planned and reactive tasks during holiday and sickness periods.
  • Liaising with external contractors where required to facilitate works in a property.
  • Identification of current and latent defects within a property.
  • Acting as a main keyholder for Sewell properties and responding to emergency callouts as part of a rotational on-call system.
  • Ensuring that all works undertaken are done so in a safe and legally compliant manner at all times.
  • Planning of own task attendances in co-ordination with the CCT to meet contract due dates.
  • Providing live time updates on tasks through our mobile platform FSI GO (tablet provided)
  • Proactive identification of faults and task logging while on sites to maintain a world class estate.
  • Maintaining a clean and professional appearance of self and company vehicle.
  • Participation in Tool Box Talks (TBT’s) and other business specific training.

Requirements

Skills and Attributes:

As well as exhibiting the Sewell Behaviours, the successful person will have the following:

Essential:

  • Valid domestic gas qualifications
  • Plumbing level 2 or 3
  • Have a positive and professional attitude
  • Be computer literate (Microsoft Office and mobile applications)
  • Have a proactive attitude towards maintaining buildings at a world class quality level
  • Hold excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with colleagues, tenant groups and subcontractors
  • Possess good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks
  • Possess a positive approach to learning, development and progression
  • Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working will be required)
  • Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety practice
  • Hold a Valid UK Driving license

Desirable:

  • Valid commercial gas qualifications
  • 17th/18th Edition electrical certification and experience
  • F-Gas certification and experience
  • Fault finding and maintenance experience in:
  • Have good maintenance skills and ability, outside of Gas experience
  • Be First Aid at Work trained.
