The Role
Assistant Accountant / Junior Production Accountant
Supporting the Client finance department and management team by completing routine clerical and accounting tasks. Preparing budgets, maintaining reports, and completing basic bookkeeping and accounting duties for the company.
Key Responsibilities
Assistant Accountant Job Duties:
- Assisting management on onboarding clients
- Implementing new procedures within organisation
- Assistance in keeping practice compliance paperwork up to date
- Maintaining own/shared client portfolio up to date with tracked queries
- Managing client ledgers and reconciliations
- Preparing financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable
- Completing purchase orders
- Completing financial reports on a regular basis and providing information to management or client
- Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Entering financial information into appropriate software programs
- Verifying balances and bank deposits in account books and rectifying discrepancies
- Managing day-to-day transactions
- Assisting/ acting as the client finance department and senior staff members with various tasks, including preparing budgets, records, Tax returns and statements
- Preparing annual budgets
- Completing the year-end analysis
- Reporting on debtors and creditors
- Management Accounting
- Handling accruals and prepayments
- Managing monthly budgeting tasks
- Encoding accounting entries for data processing
- Sorting financial documents and posting them to the proper accounts
- Reviewing computer reports for accuracy and meticulously tracing errors back to their source
- Resolving errors in financial reports and correcting faulty reporting methods
- Preparing VAT returns for Client approval and submission
- Company Secretarial Services
- Any other tasks as required by Senior Management
External finance amp; accounting
- Managing a portfolio of clients with a focus not limited to media production amp; creative industries.
- Maintain and build relationships with clients, providing technical support on accounting matters and in some cases preparation of their accounts, tax returns, production accounting etc.
- Preparation, review and submission of year end accounts and CT600 process to CH and HMRC
- Planning and reviewing progress of client work to ensure a high level of client service and satisfaction.
- Assisting with preparation of quotes for potential clients, WIP analysis, recoverability, budgeting and billing.
- Assisting clients on set up and development of internal systems and controls, including implementing suitable accounting software.
- Considering the services supplied by the firm to clients and identifying any gaps where additional services may be provided.
- Ad-hoc duties as directed by Senior Management
Requirements
- Sound experience being responsible for monthly deliverables to clients within a finance function.
- Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) / Or by relevant experience.
- Background in a small accountancy practice that provides non-audit accounting services to media SME’s or previous in-industry accounting experience would be advantageous
- Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills. Ability to work through a cross-functional organization to influence others and get things accomplished.

- Xero proficient, advantageous PMI experience and other software
