Job Description
We're looking for an experienced and customer focused product manager to join our mission to build the ultimate accounting and tax tool for sole traders. As one of the first PMs you will be instrumental in defining our product culture at Coconut
Who we are
Coconut plans to be the category-leading finance product for unincorporated sole traders around the world.
Self-employment is a revolution. 90% of self-employed people are unincorporated. This is a huge and valuable segment that has been ignored because cloud accounting companies treat them as limited companies.
We believe that everyone should have the freedom to earn income on their own terms. Whilst ‘finding work’ and ‘doing work’ are well served, running the finances of your self-employed business is not. That’s where we come in.
We launched Coconut in 2018 and since then have built a strong community around a simpler alternative to Xero and Quickbooks.
The business is on its way to becoming profitable, having recently increased our paying customers by 6x since December 2020. We have a core group of dedicated users, with a large number of our sign-ups coming through referrals from existing users.
Requirements
What you’ll do
- Understand the complex problems our customers’ have and craft great experiences to address them
- Own and lead an area of the product where you will focus on delivering great experiences and meeting company goals
- Build a story around the work you are doing. Communicate the customer and business context across our cross-functional teams (founders, engineers, designers, marketers, customer support amp; accounting services)
- Collaborate with your peers in engineering and design to work with and push against constraints
- Have a deep understanding of what our organisational goals are and how that translates into the product you are building
- Work with the dev team to identify and implement improvements to our software engineering processes (agile)
