Job Description

Location: Twinkl HQ, Sheffield Annual Salary: 18,000-22,000 depending on experience

Contract: Full time, 37.5 hours a week

The Competitor Intelligence Unit at Twinkl conducts continuous competitive analysis to produce actionable insights that inform innovation in products, offerings, marketing, and business strategies across multiple markets.

To perform these activities, we are looking for an organised individual with sharp business acumen to support the analysis of Twinkl’s competitors and to help spot business opportunities for the organisation at an international level.

You will identify and analyse competitor’s websites, social media channels, newsletters and customers’ opinions to identify the competitor’s strengths, weaknesses and business strategies. Your contributions will inform projects that will help Twinkl to deliver better products and experiences to its users across the globe. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and implementation of some of these projects.

This is a great opportunity to engage and learn from different areas of the business, including UX, Web dev, Digital Marketing, Product Development, SEO, Innovation and Data Analysis. You will work with Twinkl’s Competitor Intelligence Unit and will be part of Twinkl’s Operations Team.


Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • You will conduct research of multiple international markets and companies with the support of Twinkl’s Competitor Intelligence team, building comprehensive country lists and conducting analysis that benefits the overall business, by being responsible for performing to key KPIs and following a process. You will build an understanding of the operations of key international markets.
  • You will research and compare business qualitative and quantitative data i.e. brand and product strategies, online communication strategies, business models, website interface and performance, and customers’ behaviours and feedback.
  • You will work with different teams within the business to create new and exciting business ideas for Twinkl, expanding across Twinkl’s main international markets. You will pass on these exciting insights to a variety of teams, and will be the primary stakeholder for ensuring these are completed within time.
  • You will work with the Competitor Intelligence team to build summaries and reports that are communicated to senior management.

The Competitor Intelligence team works closely with Twinkl’s Innovation team. Since working remotely, we have got creative with our methods of communication and staying in touch. We look forward to our daily catch-ups where we chat about our individual work, as well as hosting our own virtual quizzes, games, and book club!


To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Have a strong analytical thinking mindset
  • Have knowledge and experience of using MS Excel
  • Be interested in the digital and technical side of the business
  • Understand how the business works and have a strong commercial awareness
  • Have strong communication skills

In this role, you will learn:

  • The ability to work systematically and consistently to search, capture, prioritise and record information on a daily basis
  • How to interpret business data: compare and contrast the data, look for patterns and draw a hypothesis
  • The ability to get access to and analyse business qualitative and quantitative data i.e. brand and product strategies, online communication strategies, business models, website interface and performance, and customers’ behaviours and feedback
  • How to synthesise information into actionable insights
  • An understanding of Google Analytics and other market research tools
