Job Description

In this role, you’ll focus on health news, to assist the Telegraph news team in its day-to-day coverage both in print and online.

Key responsibilities
  • Report on breaking news stories in the health field
  • Generating and seeking out news stories on your patch
  • Developing and managing a network of relevant contacts
  • Managing a diary that allows you to cover emerging stories, events and announcements
  • Presenting story ideas to the News Editor
  • Working across different publishing platforms, including the newspaper and the website
  • Maximising digital engagement and contributing towards the subscription strategy


Essential vs desirable skills required for the role
  • Experience of working in health news, either at a specialist publication or in a national newsroom (Essential)
  • Experience in breaking health news stories. (Essential)
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines. (Essential)
  • Familiarity with and experience of digital storytelling techniques. (Desirable)
  • Have a good working understanding of social media channels. (Desirable)
