Opportunity Description

The position is titled ‘Senior Intelligence Specialist’ which is equivalent to ‘Research Analyst’. Candidates will need to demonstrate 2-4 years of research experience to be considered for this role.

The Senior Intelligence Specialist will research Market/ Competitive Intelligence and Due Diligence projects in a variety of sectors. He/she should be able to work on several client briefs at a time.

Intelligentsia Worldwide is a virtual company and this role is home office based. The candidate must be located in the UK and be able to attend quarterly meetings and social events in central London.

The main elements of the Senior Intelligence Specialist’s role are to:

  • Understand the client’s business situation and research requirements.
  • Conduct desk research using online, social media and offline sources.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct and write-up telephone or face-to-face interviews. (This is the most important part of the role.)
  • Corroborate key findings with multiple data sources.
  • Synthesise the research results into a concise report for the project manager.
  • Help write client reports under supervision.
  • For more complex projects work as a member of the project team.
  • For straight-forward projects take sole responsibility for the research and analysis, under the supervision of a senior manager.
  • Help mentor other Intelligence Specialists who join the company.


Requirements

Desired Experience, Attributes amp; Qualifications

  • Candidates must have experience of telephone or face to face interviewing in multiple geographic or sectoral markets.
  • Be confident and able to build rapport with individuals quickly and manage relationships.
  • Demonstrate a track record of investigative research, for example in the fields of: market/competitive intelligence, due diligence, investigations, investigative journalism.
  • Know how to deploy desk research tools, databases, internet search techniques and sources.
  • Have a good standard of written and spoken English. Fluency in a second language, especially a major European language, would be an advantage.
  • Be results-focused, self-motivated, determined, energetic and able to multi-task; be well-organised, curious, analytical, a problem solver, adaptable, creative, a lateral-thinker and capable of thinking ‘outside the box’.
  • Be a good active listener, who can elicit information and probe what they learn skilfully.
  • Have good oral, written and presentation skills, and the desire to become an expert analyst.
  • Possess broad, general commercial knowledge. Previous experience in the Pharmaceuticals, Financial Services, Consumer Products, Gaming amp; Leisure sectors would be an advantage.
  • A good university BA degree or higher is required.
