Senior Finance Assistant at CVM World Ltd

Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Salary - 12.50 per hour
Full Time (39 hours per week), Monday Friday

CVM World is a rapidly growing, family-run, 2nd stage motor-vehicle manufacturer - converting vans to minibuses and selling high quality used vehicles. We are a Peugeot Motor Company approved convertor and our customers include the Education, Care, Charity and Voluntary sectors.

We specialise in converting Peugeot Boxer panel vans into minibuses, some of which are fully accessible, with either on-board or underfloor lifts and electric steps. However, we build on all vehicles, including high quality used vans. It is an exciting time to join the company, as we have recently expanded into the rapidly growing campervan and welfare van market.

As a rapidly growing business we require a Senior Finance Assistant, with at least 3 years' experience in a busy finance environment to join our friendly team. You will work alongside and support our Finance Manager through a very busy period of sales and growth.


Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include:


  • Purchase Ledger processing all supplier Invoices, matching purchase orders amp; delivery notes and checking prices.
  • Dealing with all Accounts Payable queries and resolving any issues.
  • Reconciliation of Supplier Statements to Accounts Payable balances and compiling the month end payment run.
  • Organising and requesting ad-hoc payments throughout the month
  • Purchase invoice analysis work and weekly expenditure analysis (including credit card and PayPal purchases)
  • Sales Ledger Raising all Sales Invoices in a timely manner and updating the Credit Control document accordingly
  • Credit Control Liaising with customers and internal departments to ensure deposit and balance payments are made on time.
  • Provide weekly sales reports and analysis to the management team
  • Daily Bank Reconciliation Analysing the daily bank statements, coding and processing the income amp; expenditure on Sage.
  • Credit Card Reconciliation Analyse the spend each month, matching to invoices/receipts, code and process on Sage.
  • Petty Cash Reconciliation Match receipts to expenditure each week, code and process on Sage.
  • Supporting stock audits.
  • Deal with all Finance related queries from both internal departments and external clients
  • Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc exercises.
The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills with a background in finance/accounts (a minimum of 3 years practical experience in a busy finance environment). You must have the ability to manage your time effectively, work well as part of team and have great attention to detail. Experience of databases is an advantage but not an essential requirement. You must be able to work to tight deadlines and manage your workload accordingly.

  • A sound knowledge of VAT (particularly on purchase and sales invoices).
Role and Requirements


As well as experience in a finance related role, the successful candidate will have achieved passes in Maths amp; English GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent). You will have a high level of computer literacy and experience of accounts software such as Sage (preferable) or similar. You should also be studying towards an accountancy qualification (AAT for example) although "qualified by experience" is acceptable.
